how long shall we wait???

it's been quite a while

You need not wait any longer my friend..........be my guest and build your own installer.

People, please keep in mind that I get about 30 minutes a day to be in front of my PC without distraction.

As for progress, I have completed the first part of the installer and will be working on the second and final part this evening. In saying that, I can assure you 100% that it will not be ready this evening, but I am talking days now not weeks............OK ?

HUGE and very special thanks goes out to Athlon_Rules for without his help, we would be weeks and weeks away from a finished product.

The MMX Installer will be released as a beta build as their is still many things I would like to do with it (time permitting).

My objective for this release is to give you a simple and effective install/uninstall sequence...............the bells and whistles will come in later builds.

Hopefuly my next post will have a link hidden somewhere in it ?

Ciou for now.

Tokrachi,

A couple of months ago, you provided us with icons for a bunch of mmx system files (.dll, .cpl, .exe) along with a mmx_shell32.exe (restorator) for XP SP1. I've gone through the painfully laborious process of modding all the files with resourcehacker (I think more than 700 icon changes. I just couldn't stop once I started modding. I think I had sore fingers for the following week). What will be the main difference between the set I have manually created and the installer you have now nearly completed? Have you made more icon changes and/or added more system files/programs?

There is no mjor difference between the icon sets and what you will end up with the installer.............a few icons, but nothing to get excited about.

BTW, I speak about the program Restoarator all the time. If you had bought this application and asked the author for the developer build, you would have done your 700 icon changes in about 1 hour..........if that!

I can understand that software cost big $ but this isn't really that expensive if you figure what your time is worth.

A must have application for the serious file modder. Latest commercial build V2.52 build 772, Latest developer build v2.60 build 952 (this is the one you want)

- Keep in touch -

:) :) :) :) :)

please forgive me for not reading all 30+ pages, i think i have but i don't remember, is there a version that will work on windowsme?

No, only WinXP :p, and these are 32-bit alpha-blended icons which will look jagged on WinME ....

Radish.

Man, will youy people calm down, we all want this thing, and you perstering him isn't gonna make it go any faster. If you want it so damn bad, go make it yourself. Untill you put some productivit into this thing, don't be whining about it. Its free to you, and makes your like easy, accriciate his hard work and can it.

if u read any of the above posts u would realize that they were asking for an approx timeline. they (I) appreciate the amount of time some 100+ icons can take to package we'd all like to see them soon but wait we will until the day of reckoning for mmxlovers.

Guys - take it easy..... relax and wait - I've sent my stuff for the installer to Tokrachi - And keep in mind that he only get about 30 minutes a day to be in front of his PC without distraction.

(I know how much time I spent with the stuff for the installer - and it was not 2 or 3 hours - I'm talking about 20h - just to let U know that it's time consumin'....................................)

I'm sure the beta R almost done :D

If anything, pestering him will make him go slower. :p Kinda like when I get somebody tailgaiting me on the road. I'm not a slow poke, but I'm not a lead foot either. Speeding tickets are too expensive and when I get an impatient jack ass behind me, they can kiss my ass until I get clear and move out of the way. I'm not saying you guys are jack asses, but it is an appropriate analogy. It will get done quicker if you just wait quietly. ;)
