0 jlmodell
well.. i started it at like 4am.. and well you see how far its progressed.. lol; umm have a single disc for panther, and i remember noticing it saying i should have install disc 2 handy... ..is it ever going to ask me to insert another disc.. cause allll of this wasted time.. oh that will bum me out! -_-; i made an image of my panther disc because i thought the reason it was initially installing craptastically slow was because i was using the physical disk.. is it this slow installing using pearpc? i might check pearpc out.. 0 Southern Patriot
bah, within a few days the creator of PearPC will have contacted the FSF and Stallman will drag Arben K through the streets. 585590353[/snapback] According to the PearPC developer's mailing list, the guy who created the AltiVec (G4) patch is already contacting the EFF to ask for legal advice since they have used his code without permission. Eg. A 1.2 Ghz Mac equates to approx 1.8 - 2.4 Ghz PC. Depending on configuration etc. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/294414-cherry-os-trial-available/page/15/#findComment-585591482 Share on other sites
0 Rob2687
Comparing one of the latest nightly PPC builds...the nightly PPC is slightly faster... The reason why some people may be seeing smoother display with CherryOS is because that refresh thing is set so low. Dont give this thing anymore attention than is deserves, just go with good ol' PearPC itself. 0 TheDogsBed
OK, I'll be the one who asks the obvious. So now what? You have something that looks like a Mac OS on your Windows PC, doesn't perform anything like a Mac and will never do so. So what exactly have you gained other than a resource-hungry new skin for your Windows box? 0 Another_Paul
Okay guys here are my mini thoughts on Cherry OS. Didnt have to "install" it because I used an already made IMG file. The first thing I noticed was a SMOOTH mouse, but I see in the config file of Cherry OS the re_draw rate was set to 10MS. Once the OS loaded, I noticed the docking animation was SLOWER than PearPC. I have a P4 3.0GHz machine with 1GB ram. With general movement through CherryOS, things seemed a tad slower than PearPC. I will stick with PearPC. Clearly CherryOS is a ripoff of PearPC. How is it that CherryOS's AstroAMatro file use the same commands as PearPC's PPCCFG. Cherry OS's Config file: pci_ide0_master_installed = 1 pci_ide0_master_image = "c:\CherryOS_HD\MAC OS X\hdimage.img" pci_ide0_master_type = "hd" pci_3c90x_installed = 0 pci_3c90x_mac = "DE:AD:CA:FE:12:34" pci_usb_installed = 1 nvram_file = "nvram" pci_ide0_slave_installed = 0 pci_ide0_slave_image = "" pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom" prom_bootmethod = "auto" redraw_interval_msec = 10 cos_start_resolution = "1280x1024x32" prom_driver_graphic ="C:\DOCUME~1\blah\LOCALS~1\Temp\ifrs_gkl.tmp" memory_size = 0x10000000 pci_rtl8139_installed = 1 pci_rtl8139_mac = "DE:AD:CA:FE:12:35" key_toggle_mouse_grab = "F6" cpu_pvr = 0x000c0000 No way, too much of a coincidence. No harm in them being able to try out OSX. This may help to boost Mac sales - you never know.
