Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.1 (update)

Recommended Posts

Actually, version 7 isn't bad at all. Even though it tries to put something in on startup for pre-loading, it still loads up quick without it... If you haven't tried this version, you should. It's much much faster than 5 and 6 were.

Although I realize that's not saying much... =)

try Dcaf dude...

Yeah, nothing big for you to patch your single home system, but I have to deploy this to 4000 systems, plus Acrobat 7 Pro & Standard to 400 more. Which means this is yet another piece to deploy, where as I could have just a single deployment if they would just use a .MSP instead.

It's **** poor development on Adobe's part, like all of their installers.

If you want to get rid of the ads from the toolbar.

1. Open a new text document and copy/paste the following code.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\FeatureLockdown]
"bShowAdsAllow"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\AdsInReader]
"bShowAds"=dword:00000000

2. Save it

3. Change the extension from .txt to .reg

4. Double click the .reg file to import the settings into the registry. :)

It might be more effective if you told all this to them as opposed to posting it here ;) bump yourself a couple notches up the corporate chain and give them a call or send an email.

Oh they get an earful from me quite often. I've been bitching at them about the Acrobat Installer since 5.0. :p

Unfortunately, they are just begining to realize that "Designed for the Enterprise", does not include someone walking around from system to system with a CD. ;)

And they ARE improving, just SLOWLY. :sleep:
