mufdvr3669
Games are cheaper for the PC version because they don't have to pay the computer makers a fee for developing them where as EA Sports has to pay Sony and Microsoft for putting games out on their consoles. This is one of the reasons why they take losses on their hardware and why you'll see the new Playstation 3 and XBox 2 come out around $300 to $400 and a computer with the same power cost hundreds of bucks more. I doubt games will get more expensive in the near future, tops would be around $55 for a playstation game. I won't pay over $30 for em, just wait a few months and buy em used off Ebay. kylejn
as far as I see it, if prices go up, I'll be buying less. It's not a smart move. That's what forced me to go to the 'backup' direction. If games were cheaper, I'd buy original's with no questions asked! They should price games like Japan does. 585625745 Games in Japan, if I remember correctly from when I lived over there, cost about 6800円. That's going to be about $65 USD at the current exchange rate, which is even more than what is charged in the States now. Still cheaper than the UK, though. Were you specifically referring to UK prices? The Jorge
This is why I haven't bought a game in months (last one was HL2 for the PC). Money isn't something I can just throw away on games so easily anymore (until summer when I can work full-time :p). x-byte
Games here are a lot more expensive than elsewhere.. already like $90-95 american dollars for some games. The cheapest are like $50-60. PC games mostly cost a little less though. edit: sorry about that, I priced it too high... fixed now.. dheaddy
Man you people in the UK really get the shaft. Your the last to get the games along with them being overpriced. 585626005 yeah don't we know it  you can see why we're so keen to import games where possible! emel
I can understand having high prces for games like HALO2 or Metroid prime which are console exclusive.. but those EA and UBISOFT and other games shouldnt be more than $30-$40.. THey release ports to all console and pc and still charge $49.. thats why I have a dvd burner and a high speed connection and I can borrow my friends blockbaster card.. :hmmm: :hmmm: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/297384-activision-says-next-gen-games-will-be-pricier/page/2/#findComment-585630477 Share on other sites

Keito
We're paying 60-70 euro's for a newly released PS2 game... about 80$ so if it goes up, i will consider a mod-chip faster then when they price down... IMO games for consoles should cost about 40 euro's tops! kylejn
The ideal prices for games, with "ideal" referring to both the public and the corporations, would be $34.99 USD to $39.99 USD for console games and $19.99 USD to $24.99 USD for handheld games. I'd say that the companies would make even more money this way than they do now because more people will buy the games at those more reasonable prices than would buy then at the exorbitant prices that they're considering. EmuZombie Veteran Posted March 17, 2005 Veteran Share Posted March 17, 2005 I guess I'm the only one who remembers Nintendo and Super Nintendo games being $69.99USD in the 1980s and early 1990s... The only games I can remember ever being that high were ones that included player's gudies like Earthbound. I do remember buying Super Mario RPG for $60 at release though and was ****ed at paying that much. Now that I think about it I remember games for Nintendo and SNES on release being $60, but never $70. Shadrack
I think people will just not buy so many games. I'm sure they can justify the raise in price by the raise in inflation, and the fact that it takes more people to bring these games together these days. It likely will lead to more piracy :( :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/297384-activision-says-next-gen-games-will-be-pricier/page/2/#findComment-585631548 Share on other sites

Osiris
Well id hope this is BS, because high console prices and high games prices arent going to boade to well in anyones books, I imagine. I can only see this as encouraging piracy really, I mean the rare games that are worth the $90AUD we pay here are too far and few inbetween. On the upside its nice to see here in Aus that PC game prices have responded by being some $20 cheaper than new console games at times. Usually they were both the same price. Still these next-gen consoles would wanting to be sporting some useful features to them similar to all the different things Xboxes and to some extent PS2s can be converted into.
