zhangm Supervisor Posted March 23, 2005 Supervisor Share Posted March 23, 2005 As far as I know, there is no way around this other than opening up the icon file and rearranging the order of icons in it. Even then, the icon preview in Thumbnail view does not preserve transparency, so you will get jagged black edges. This is a problem due to what Windows does for Thumbnail view. As far as I know, there is no way around it. If you want to view your icons, I suggest Tiles, or Icons view. Alternatively, you can download software made specifically for sifting through icon collections, such as AveIconbook. Tidus18
Yeah...Relativity_17 is right. There is no way for you if you want to view in thumbnail mode. The best view to view your icons collection is "tiles" mode. Sorry took so long to reply sherpard... sherpard
thanks for the replies. but sorry guys, not to be rude, but thats exactly my problem!! i cant view my icons as icons, tiles, only filmstrip and thumbnails, but just as relativity said "Even then, the icon preview in Thumbnail view does not preserve transparency, so you will get jagged black edges. This is a problem due to what Windows does for Thumbnail view." its not usually like this, its not a problem with windows xp, but i don't know what happened, only after that i couldnt view icons anymore.. are the screenshots i posted not uploaded correctly? u guys seem to misunderstand my question.. sorry again if i sound offensive. i really dont. its because i cant think of any other way to relate to my problem other than the screenshots. thanks for the help everyone.as u can see from the screenshot, why dont the icons appear as correctly sized and accurate depictions of the icons instead of the stupid camera looking icon? The_Decryptor Veteran Posted March 26, 2005 Veteran Share Posted March 26, 2005 it is because you have customized your icon's icon using some icon program in the registry go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\icofile\DefaultIcon and set the default value to say %1 restart explorer, and they will display using their contents.
