niksa
Why dont you use SP2?? its a major critical security update! The only situation where you should not use it is in a corporation that uses custom made software that isnt yet compatable, in which case you should get that software compatible as soon as possible and upgrade. Well on machines which I installed SP2 I get numerous problems. From unable to open ftp to hangups and slowdowns. What do I get with SP2? Firewall and AV I already have, and I install major updates Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/299731-autopatcher-xp-may-2005/page/12/#findComment-585994022 Share on other sites

Angelico_Payne
Yeay, you're right, I just don't understand people, first thay complain about inperfection of Windows and when update comes along, they refuse to install it  , instead they should be happy that someone out there is actually working to improve that buggy Windows  P.S. Offcourse, it would be much nicer if Windows Updates would be implemented in form of AutoPatcher, and not that awfull form : install clean Windows, and THAN you can update, if you don't want any hussle. DaFlapDrol
Alright, my new server is up (though it still needs another 1GB of RAM). MUCH faster CPU and whatnot so it's working like a champ, and will really work great when I get that extra RAM. Download away! :) 585976376[/snapback] The downloads from http://autopatcher.littlbuger.info are not stable ...... I've downloaded the different versions of Autopatcher myself. The FULL, LITE and UPDATE. The results vary from a normal and functional download to a MS-DOS icoon that only launch a batch file. With no effect or result. If you have broadband internet access. Keep trying too download AutoPatcher untill you see AutoPatcher's icoon. For those who don't have broadband internet acces, ask friends to do that for you. At this moment we can't offer you a better solution or service! AutoPatcher_XP_May2005_Full.exe is on your mirror littlburger_AutoPatcher_XP_May2005_Full.exe With that the original AutoPatcher icoon is missing. Instead of the AutoPatcher icoon the MS-DOS icoon is default. In that logfile you can find what is installed by AutoPatcher. Then you will see that you used a registertweak: Set the "My Computer" Desktop icon to "%USERNAME% on %COMPUTERNAME% and /or Disable 'Shortcut To'on Shortcuts Default it won't change! Please make sure that you download the full file from my site and then tell me what you get. Like I said, I've downloaded them from my site today, doing nothing special, and they were fine. I tested in both Firefox and IE. I still don't understand the problem. Also, please, please people, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people read my name wrong. DaFlapDrol
Yep, I see that you changed the site. The result is that the layout isn't correctly displayed on Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519. The 'rescueME' Titlebar is over AutoPatcher's table........(Windows Patching made easy and fast!) is the only text to see. The rest looks very good and better than it was! Good work!!!!. Just did a download and it seems to be okay. How many connections can the server handle?? LittlBUGer
Yes, I've noticed that happening in IE too, but after you refresh, it goes away. Strange... I'll look into that, though I can't think off the top of my head what it would be. I'm glad you like the new area. It's very handy and has a ton of nice features... now I just need to get around to using them... ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/299731-autopatcher-xp-may-2005/page/12/#findComment-586018196 Share on other sites
LittlBUGer
Sorry everyone. I am now forced to remove the AutoPatcher Full download from my site due to the extreme load. I'm already paying a ton of money for my dedicated server as it is (I mean I upgraded just to try and support the AutoPatcher community!) and it's still not enough. My server has been going up and down constantly for many days now, so I must take this download off to help stop that. I must be able to not only server others by more importantly my clients that I give hosting to. The problems may also be because of leechers who are cheating my server of the download, but I'm already doing everything I know to stop that. Again, I'm sorry, but I will now only provide the Lite and Update versions until I can afford a server that can handle the amount of load (and if you want an example, I just put up my new downloads script a few days ago and there is already like 6000 downloads done along with around 250GB of bandwidth taken in around 4 days). Thanks and I hope to be able to provide more in the future. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/299731-autopatcher-xp-may-2005/page/12/#findComment-586022611 Share on other sites

marl
i read from another forum that if you installed pirated copy of xp and sp2 and microsoft finds your key to be "bad" when you update it, "it will write to your boot sector causing your pc to be unable to boot up windows or dos." it didn't happened to me yet so i cannot confirm if it is true... can autopatcher xp be used to update a pirated copy of xp safely?
