can you hook up ipod to your car's headunit using the rcas in the back

i was wondering, my headunit has 3 pre outs in the back, rear/front/sub or aux i think, will i be able to hook my ipod into the aux inputs and get the sound going through aux? or no?

just get a RCA-to-Miniplug Y-Adapter and connect that all together.
