Southern Patriot Posted April 25, 2005 Share Posted April 25, 2005 (edited) By the way, if you are having trouble with printing, such as not being able to add a printer (getting the dreaded "server-error-service-unavailable" error), it may be that cupsd (the printing daemon) isn't starting. I have made a small shell script that you can simply double click on to restart it. It will ask you if you are sure you want to run it, then ask for your password (since this action requires Administrator privileges). If anyone has run into this problem and wants the script, I can post it. Here is the code if you want to compile it yourself: do shell script "sudo /System/Library/StartupItems/PrintingServices/PrintingServices start" with administrator privileges I hope this helps someone :) This error can be a royal pain in the butt. edit: by the way, you can get it to automatically enter your password by adding password "yourpassword" before "with administrator privileges". That's really sad that you won't take the extra half-a-second to click "Download". I know it can get annoying, but switching to a slower browser or even reinstalling an inferior OS just to get rid of it? That's really, really weird.
