NightCrawler
I still can't believe how many people use this tool when all you get are the strangest errors.... In the end manually replacing the file uses a lot less effort then trying to figure out why the patcher screwed up your system.... Windows X
Hi,I just downloaded this and *tried* to install it, however it says that I have NT files in my c:/windows/ folder and tells me to remove my NT disc. However I know that I am running Windows XP SP2. What should I do? thanks, pzgamer825 585918022[/snapback] rename C:\windows\i386 to something else and try again. Alan Zeino
Anyway, whats the point of this thread? Theres one already, Windows X are you just trying to raise more interest for your patch? Because I think you are, because if you werent youd probably have edited the original sticky, rather than create a new thread. benjyrama
you've prob had loads of problems with this, but i just wanna see if mine can be fixed. Whenever I install this patch, it works well, but when I reboot the computer, then try to change the visual style, it just goes to Windows Classic Theme, in the colour of the theme i'm trying to apply. Pls help, otherwise, i'll try the manual patch Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/308905-uxtheme-multi-patcher-neowin-edition-40/page/2/#findComment-586035111 Share on other sites

dreamz Veteran Posted June 10, 2005 Veteran Share Posted June 10, 2005 for everyone whose patch failed: do it manually! how to do it: 1. get the hacked uxtheme.dll: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=315315 note: that is for sp2 2180. 2. extract the file to your desktop. 3. get replacer: http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/ 4. extract replacer to a folder. 5. run replacer.cmd. you should have a black command window. drag in the original uxtheme.dll from c:\windows\system32 and press enter. 6. drag in the modified uxtheme.dll on your desktop into the command window. press enter. 7. confirm the replacement. wait until it finishes. DO NOT REBOOT UNTIL YOU ARE PROMPTED. 8. reboot. you need to download visual styles. once you have done that, put them in c:\windows\resources\themes in a folder with the same name as the msstyles file. example: you have xyz.msstyles. in c:\windows\resources\themes, create a folder called xyz and put xyz.msstyles in that folder. in folder "xyz", create a folder called "shell" and put the associated shellstyle.dll in there. to run msstyles: 1. double-click the msstyles file, or 2. go to display properties > APPEARANCE TAB (not theme tab) > windows and buttons. select the vs. if you've done everything correctly, it should appear here. forster
Hmm, not working for me XP SP2 build 2600. Do you have the updated cracked uxtheme.dll for this version of windows so I can change it manually?
