What if the Eagles give him more money and he gets hurt early in the season or before the season begins? Then they are going pay him over $7 million a year as a bench warmer.

it never ceases to amaze what money does to people..

$49 million in 7 years.. thats 7mill a year. thats more than enough money.

Not that really matters, but TO won't see most of that money. I would bet that his contract is back-loaded and would have been reworked if he became too expensive or cut outright. A quick bit of research shows TO will only receive 3.5 million in 2005, after making 9 million this past season.

I see faults on both sides of this arguement. On one hand, TO signed this contract and should honor it. On the other hand, I know teams will cut players when they feel they have to.

the $8 mill signing bonus is the problem TO has with his contract. He's making the 7 year $49 mill contract, but if he were to get hurt or something happens and he cant play, none of that 49 million is guaranteed. He wants a higher signing bonus, one that is comparible to the highest paid WR in the league.

The Chicago Bears sign Muhsin Muhammed to a whatever year deal for whatever amount of money, but the main part of that was the $15 million sign bonus, and thats what TO is after.

In a league where if youre unable to play and a team can release you, youre screwed....you need that guarantee.

To be fair, he is one of the best WR's playing right now and if you compare his salary to other top WR's then it's easy to see why he wants it changed..

Moss w/Vikings - 8 years for $75 million.

Harrison w/Colts - 7 years for $67 million.

Owens w/Eagles - 7 years for $49 million.

[Rookie] Fitzgerald w/Arizona - 6 years for $40 base upto $60 million.

Your right about the type of player he is and the money he makes compaired to the other receivers in the NFL.

You just have to think why he signed for so much less than he thinks he's worth (which IMO I think he didn't, the other players are just overpaid), what's the point of having an agent? Also why would you even settle for so much less?

IMO T.O. is the last person I would want to have on my team if I owned an NFL team. He thinks he's the MJ of the NFL, even better. He's just an all around prick and bad teammate. How can you dog McNabb, McNabb is involved in every play, unlike T.O.

Don't worry, it doen't matter if he is taking shots at McNabb. Everyone in Phialdelphia knows its McNabb's team. It is not like it was in San Francisco where the fans had no loyalty to Garcia. Owens can't win this one.

I'm thrilled McNabb spoke up. Being a Giants fan I despise the Eagles but I have huge amounts of respect for McNabb. T.O. has to remember that he wasn't even there to help the Eagles do the ONE thing they got him to do. THey managed to get home-field in the past so it's not like they accomplished anything new during the regular season. He wasn't there for he NFC championship game and they made it over the hump without him. Now, I'm not saying he did nothing because the guy is an incredible receiver but he seriously has to shut up and play. Why would you dog the guy who gets you the ball when he's a perennial Pro-Bowler and could easily be up for MVP each year? I hope Reggie Brown turns out to be a superstar and T.O. gets humbled if he does anything stupid like try to sit out and this kid takes his spot. I doubt it's likely but I can dream, lol.

Todd Pinkston will steal all TO's thunder this season, you just watch! ;)

Actually if anyone is to do it, it would be Greg Lewis if they would actually start him.

Is anyone really surprised by TO doing this? I mean this is typical TO. He thinks he's Gods gift to football.

I do not think anyone is suprised about this. I think his new agent put ideals into his head about getting more money and now he is having dellusions of gradure. The Philadelphia Inquirer said today if he doesn't show up for mini-camp they are going to start fining him $6000 a day just like they did with Duce Staley. I think like with previous player holdouts like with Staley, the team is moving on without him. And if he does show up, Reid will own him the entire season. If there is one thing that Reid is know for, it is tough love.
