[Cue 1337 linux user saying it takes a fraction of a second for them to install programs]

I would hardly consider myself '1337' but I have experience with Fedora Core 2/3 (Redhat) and Gentoo. At the moment, I use Windows XP Professional a lot more than Linux.

-- Fedora --

// open up terminal

[user@linuxcomp ~]# su -c "yum update firefox"

Enter password: {I enter root password}

// yum does it's stuff and I agree to it

[user@linuxcomp ~]#

-- Gentoo --

// open up terminal

[user@linuxcomp ~]# su -c "emerge -u firefox"

Enter password: {I enter root password}

// emerge does it's stuff and I agree to it

[user@linuxcomp ~]#

Updating via repositories [in Linux] does make things a lot easier. :)

Why does the auto update button dump the installer to the desktop then just leave it there...how sloppy...

You'd think for such gifted programmers they'd have alot less trouble getting their program to install properly. :argh:
