That document preview feature isn't going to be much use at all, methinks.

I mean if you can search servers and stuff for colleagues documents how the buggery is viewing a thumbnail going to help you when you don't know what the first page even looks like?

Unless of course, the text is much bigger than that and just the fuzzy webcast made it look illegible...

Now I'm no Mac fanboy (I use whatever OS serves my needs) but there's not really anything in that demonstration that Apple hasn't already done with Tiger.

Many of those search features aren't implemented in Spotlight (although they could be added I'm sure). The shortcut list thing seems cool, too. I really like how they're embracing RSS.

I never thought the document preview feature would be helpful really, because the amount of information that would need to be displayed in a thumbnail in order for it to be effective would make the thumbnail too large.

With pictures, however, thumbnails are effective, because it's only one piece of information that needs to be displayed (and it's scalable also)

And is Microsoft touting this Metro document thing as a built-in PDF killer?

apparently, yeh!

and specially if they get the hardware support they're saying they will... add that to the fact that's it's "royalty free". and PDF is done!

That's what I gathered. I kind of hope it works, I hate PDF. Especially Adobe's bloated Reader garbage.

Did anyone else think that those transparency effects in the title bar were a little confusing? It was hard to read the bar text. I hope that will be sorted.

Edit: Whoops a GUI post. Sorry!
