Menge
it was 5048. 585828199 yeh... that looked like the 5048 DWM screenshots posted on the Neowin WinHEC blog. how did they manage to enable it? anyone know?
ic1male
That document preview feature isn't going to be much use at all, methinks. I mean if you can search servers and stuff for colleagues documents how the buggery is viewing a thumbnail going to help you when you don't know what the first page even looks like? Unless of course, the text is much bigger than that and just the fuzzy webcast made it look illegible... Now I'm no Mac fanboy (I use whatever OS serves my needs) but there's not really anything in that demonstration that Apple hasn't already done with Tiger. The shortcut list thing seems cool, too. I really like how they're embracing RSS.
HPMCommander
I never thought the document preview feature would be helpful really, because the amount of information that would need to be displayed in a thumbnail in order for it to be effective would make the thumbnail too large. With pictures, however, thumbnails are effective, because it's only one piece of information that needs to be displayed (and it's scalable also)

Menge
And is Microsoft touting this Metro document thing as a built-in PDF killer? 585828273 apparently, yeh! and specially if they get the hardware support they're saying they will... add that to the fact that's it's "royalty free". and PDF is done! Brandon Live Veteran Posted April 25, 2005 Veteran Share Posted April 25, 2005 And is Microsoft touting this Metro document thing as a built-in PDF killer? 585828273 That's what I gathered. I kind of hope it works, I hate PDF. Especially Adobe's bloated Reader garbage.
ic1male
Did anyone else think that those transparency effects in the title bar were a little confusing? It was hard to read the bar text. I hope that will be sorted. Edit: Whoops a GUI post. Sorry!
