The GUI looks a lot better than the one in 5048.... looks more polished. For instance look at teh Printer and Control Panel icons... and the start menu looks like it was designed with the search there rather than it being stuck on after.

I hope this build (5060?) leaks out because it seems more interesting than the one MS released to people at WinHEC so far XD

Something ive noticed. Goto http://www.microsoft.com with a compliant browser (FF etc.) the gradient is broken, the search box is marooned.

Now, compare to this; http://www.winsupersite.com/images/reviews...tabletpc_04.jpg

Am i reading too deep :p Its interesting nevertheless...

Great find!

Hopefully this means IE finally becomes standards compliant

Yea i agree with you the Gui in 5048 is horrible. Last night i downloaded the leak of 5048 and tested it. It was the most boring experience ever. they should have release 5060 better.

Yes - do a dual boot - like I'm trying to do.

God, I went to bed last night hoping it would download most of the build then I go to school, come back and it's on 80%

wow. i must say i'm quite impressed with DWM progress. It's usable on my FX5200 (with the registry tweak to enable it).

though i must say: everything is buggy as hell!!!! :p though nothing that shouldn't be expected from pre-alpha.

a few examples:

- Explorer doesn't show my entire Downloads folder contents.

- DON'T customize the IE toolbar. It'll break.

- can you say crippled? TONS of things are hidden from the user, prolly just so that this isn't their new main OS.

one other funny thing i noticed, is that the paths right now accept like HD_LABEL\PATH asides HD_LETTER\PATH. the auto-complete accepts it. but i can't seem to be able to actually execute anything like that.

Yeah, a lot of the time i don't get a folder's full contents unless i do "explore" with the folder bar open, but it's shocking how fast and extendable the DWM is already.

Can't wait for beta 1 now

is anyone able to create autolists right now?

OR is anyone able to search (the quick one) anything else other than C:?

this build feels incredibly crippled when compared to what they showed at the Keynote earlier yesterday.

DWM is good... but not that "accessible"; AutoLists can't be easily made like the guy showed; explorer acts weird; bugs in simple ui places.

i guess we'll have to wait for beta1 to actually see the whole featureset working "decently", huh?
