My crackpot Microsoft/Nintendo theory!

nintendo if it does not change will fall back drastically and will be bought out one day..yes its nice to have the compition but lets be real when you got corp. like M$ who dont care about what the cost of the unit will be because people will buy it does compition do any good. so nintendo will have to step it up alot with the next console or they will be hurting..i personally prefer gameplay to graphics but the generations growing up behind us are seeing better grpahics and thats what they will come to expect, but i dont think nintendo will be able to keep up in the long run.

Nintendo hasn't had huge losses on any of their console systems yet. They aren't selling as much as say Microsoft or Sony, but they are still profitting.

csseale - the gamecube has an incredible graphics chip in it. did you take a look at resident evil 4? it was simply breathtaking. nintendo obviously has the ability to stay in the graphics race, they just need a bigger genre of games for the older crowd.

What game system did we all grow up with? Nintendo (and Sega, but they screwed themselves over...). Granted, I've seen a lot of nicer, more mature Gamecube games, Nintendo is not worried about the older crowd. Nintendo has the young crowd in their hands like putty. They won't be going anywhere for a long time, until Microsoft or Sony (or their developers) start pumping out a massive number of kid-friendly games.

I love Nintendo, and have for over a decade, but I'd like this to happen. MS can swallow up costs on hardware, take all the risks on that, and Nintendo would make an absolute ****load on software sales. Their hardware department could concentrate on making a real kick ass handheld and the cream of the crop of their software department will be churning out quality game after quality game.

The only downside I see is the controller, Nintendo would need input on the controller, I can't see them conforming.

Still, it's not going to happen, they'll release a console and be content with being in third place. It's not a bad thing because they're making a tonne of money so fair play to them.

Things rarely are serious when theyre not going yer way.

Dont ya think ?

True, but in this case, he's right. He posted it as a joke, to give people amusement - hence why he said "don't think its gonna happen, but some may find amusement"...

Theoretically, if Nintedo was going to side with one of the two other companies, Sony or MS, it definitely would not be MS. The Japanese shareholders have too much pride and would never let that happen.

Plus why would they want to put their games on a system that is only selling 1 million more then the GameCube when they could put it on a system that has 80+ million consoles sold?

^ Surely they're not too friendly with Sony after Playstation...

If it would come down to it, which it is not, I think Nintendo would overlook what happened in the past. Using a business perspective, since they would still want to make games for Japan their number #1 priority then Xbox is definitely not the console they would want to do it with if they want to reach the Japanese consumers. Even if they did not make the Japanese gamers their #1 prority anymore, it would be stupid to release it for a console that has 20 million sold when compared to 80 million. Businesses exist to make money and more consoles to play your game on will make more money. Hence Capcom's reason to make RE4 not exclusive on the GameCube and release it for the PS2 also.
