Dick Montage
Not sure if this helps, but Tahoma is considered the most "on-screen" readable font, and a size 9 is quite legible yet allows good layout. That said, I tend to not hard-code font-sizes these days, accessability and all. But if specifying a font-face within CSS, I just use sans-serif. Specify the family, not the exact face, that way no system assumptions are made. I may be answering the wrong question here, but hope it helped. OrangeSoul
i was quite intrigued to see if windows has the font that OS X uses for Safari, which one is similiar to it, it has a rounded smooth feel to it.
SapUMBC
Verdana is best, considering it was developed for web use. @ Orange: I think you're referring to Lucida Grande. It exists for Windows, but from the ones I've seen, they are the worst replicas ever.

TGT
I personally prefer Trebuchet MS as a good web font. It’s the one that you see on most blogging sites. It’s easy to read an friendly to all who read.
Rushnak
I say Verdana, although I really like tahoma. Verdana's more spaced out and more readable, especially when there's alot of text in a small area.
Fotix
Sans-serif - Verdana (probably the best overall) Serif - Times New Roman Monospace - Courier New I was so used to them on Windows, I had to use them on Ubuntu. :cat:

Jon 5
What font size do you guys use? It really hurts my eyes if the font is to small but at the same time I don't want it to mess up the page design. ;)
Elliott
Lucida Grande. It's the most legible font I've ever used. As for font sizes, I wouldn't actually specify a specific font size. Instead, use relative font units (such as em). For serif fonts, I especially love Hoefler Text, but that isn't available on most Windows systems. Instead, Georgia is a good alternative. You could specify in the CSS a whole list, such as "Hoefler Text, Georgia, Times, serif".

riceboyler
Comic Sans MS Just kidding: I use Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS, and Lucida Grande on all my sites. I have noticed though that Trebuchet is pretty worthless smaller than 9pt, whereas Verdana and Tahoma scale well down to 6pt.
