Default for anything is Times (New Roman), and I can't stand reading that.
B.O.B.
Default for anything is Times (New Roman), and I can't stand reading that. 586078100 Agreed. Times is an awful font. Has to be Verdana, I find that Tahoma looks a bit squashed and Verdana's nicely spread out.
jakej
Definitely Tahoma or Verdana. I use Verdana for long school projects/speeches - makes it much easier to read. In my opinion, it looks more spaced out, but I'm not really sure what makes it nice.

render218
*newb question* what's the difference between sans serif, serif, and monospace? When is each used?
Elliott
*newb question*what's the difference between sans serif, serif, and monospace? When is each used? 586092651 Sans serif doesn't contain the little projections (the parts that spread out from the ends of the strokes). Serif contains those projections. Monospace is just as it sounds: monospaced letters. All the letters and symbols are equal widths and equally spaced. Edit: Here's an example to show the serif vs. sans serif difference. Denis W. Veteran Posted June 23, 2005 Veteran Share Posted June 23, 2005 If you're developing a website and want it make the text on your website as legible and beautiful as possible? Default for anything is Times (New Roman), and I can't stand reading that. 586078100 Agreed, but Times New Roman isn't so bad for print outs :) Besides, for all browsers, the default 'fallback' font can be easily changed. Jon 5
I'm bumping this because I just installed Firefox 1.5 and it is hard for me to read some text sizes. What font and sizes do you guys recommend that are really easy to read and are larger?
gertin
Verdana, Georgia and Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. :)
slim_Az
I've used Verdana & Tahoma previously on my web site then switched to Arial, Times New Roman is a bit to Roman for me :| Not sure which one is most readable overall, but i find Arial pretty appealing and readable. Digital.K
Segoe UI because I have an LCD with cleartpye enabled, and I have it set to systemwide defualt and browser default, this is the best font IMO ever.

chopyaedoff
I find that Times new roman looks terible on websites and that arial is the best font to use. And the best apple font is either Apple Garamond 9pt or Lucida Grande 9pt or AquaBase (that one has all the apple symbols in it) 10pt.

serafins
do anyone try out the 3 new MS sans fonts : Calibri, Candara, Corbel ? Corbel is the most readable in smal to very smal size, absolutely no cluttering. Calibri looks good from smal to medium and even large size. Candara look like more spaced Segoe UI. and 2 new MS serif fonts : Cambria and Constantia.
