*FINAL* PC Specs, about to build a PC

Everything you have there is solid. Is that RAM you have there VX or is it simply Gold? OCZ, unfortunately (or fortunately) has lots of RAM, and it's sometimes hard to tell between them, just like Corsair.

I've also read that both LG4163B and NEC 3520 burners are good, not sure about the one you have there. It may be good as well, I just don't know.

I would suggest getting one stick of RAM rather than having 2x512 modules.

Also, get the MX518 mouse. Its newer, better, faster and all that good stuff.

The mouse is not a big jumpe in price. However, a single 1 gig stick of RAM will set you back a good deal. I just think its better. Leaves an extra slot open, may run faster.

very good pc! only diff between ours is the CPU, mine is venice 3500, where you getting the san diego 3700+?

If you plan on ocing, get some better cooling than stock. The rest seems great to me! good prices too, but you can get the vid card with a better deal, I got it for 410, here is my budget vid

BFG Tech Geforce 6800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI-Express x16 Video Card $410

where you get ram, looks like a v good price! is it the one I suggested? cause it is much cheaper!

Why get 1 stick?

2x512 allows for dual channel. It won't run faster. I guarantee you that without dual channel it will run slower.

Perfect

OC that CPU to 2.6Ghz and you have a FX55 with a faster FSB

Ok, it's my first time building a PC. Was wondering what happens if something "doesn't work" lol. Hopefully XP setup disc will detect and install everything right? OCing should be farely easy with no water cooling as I can do it from bios.

Just gold, is VX better? I don't want to cheap out on the memory :)

G.Skill

Its expensive but worth it

Personally, from Anandtech's review of the OCZ VX, I think it performs better than the G.Skill provided that you've hit your CPU limit. If you haven't, then I think it's comparable to the G.Skill. Either way, both are good, but my preference lies with the VX.

Hmm.. the ram OCZ I have there is 155 "G-Skill" is 180.00. But, i'm starting to here maybe VX over G-Skill.

Firstly, when I recommend the VX, I recommend the PC4000, not the PC3200. Some people have amazing speeds with it...but my issue with that is that it's not guaranteed. If you don't get PC4000 or higher speeds, that's too bad. Secondly, if you have PC4000, it fits well with the 11x multiplier. A good overclocker can do 11x250 = 2750 MHz on a Venice/San Diego with decent air cooling (possibly even stock cooling). My reasoning is...if you have an 11x multiplier, use it.

I would, however, recommend the G.Skill TCCDs for people that have the 3000+ and 3200+, since those require higher HTTs to reach the processor limit.

WoW! 285.00 whats so good about this ram anyway. I'm not planning on OCing the ram just processor?

When you OC the processor, you OC the RAM and your Hypertransport link as well. Keep that in mind. The only exception to that is if you set a divider on the RAM.

If you oc a proc with locked multiplyer (all but the fx)

You oc the ram with it, this is garrented to do DDR400 at 2-2-2-5

and DDR600 (600mhz fsb) at 2.5-4-4-8

He won't need to do DDR600 though with an 11x multiplier. That would bring his speed to 3.3 GHz, which unfortunately, I haven't seen done with anything less than phase change cooling. Also, 2-2-2-5 at DDR500 is far better than 2.5-4-3-7 at DDR600. Athlon 64s like low latencies more than bandwidth.

What does 2-2-2-5 mean? 2.2 ghz?

The lower your memory latencies, the faster your memory runs. 2-2-2-5 is what would be considered extremely low latency. When you overclock your memory, you may have to loosen your timings (latencies) to something like 2.5-3-3-8 (which is bad for performance) to achieve the higher clock speeds. The OCZ VX, however, is made perfectly for your board, and can do DDR500 at 2-2-2-5. It uses UTT chips whereas the G.Skill uses TCCD chips. They are meant to achieve different things. The UTT chips are meant for low latencies at pretty high speeds if you feed it lots of voltage. The G.skill are meant for high-latencies but high clockspeeds.

Are you also reccoemending I get the VX and not the G-Skill?

I'm a beginner to overclocking and don't really know what all that means. Is there some sort of tutorial I can go to that will allow to OC my clock speed and not my memory?

There are plenty of tutorials, but no such thing as OCing your CPU without OCing your memory, unless you set it on a divider.

If you want, I can give you an overview here.

Only if you know how to overclock. If you don't, I'd recommend you get Corsair Value Select. Read up on how to OC first before you buy OC components.
