For system information and more I use WINAUDIT.

WinAudit performs a rapid and exhaustive audit of installed software, license information, security configuration, hardware inventory, network settings and much more. (Description taken from authors site).

It's easy to use, comes with no setup file, it's small and overall a nice application

Theres a couple more but haven't got time right now, maybe a bit later

I don't think there should be a reason for excluding Mac freeware, perhaps a Mac symbol to denote that the application listed in the particular catergory is Appletastic.

After all, from what I can see, Apple freeware is extremely rare compared to Windows, and not particularily emphasized in Mac discussion groups, such as Neowin's or otherwise.

Note ( from the website ):

The "Export registry" function in Regedit is USELESS (!) for

making a complete backup of the registry. Neither does it export the

whole registry (for example, no information from the "SECURITY" hive

is saved), nor can the exported file be used later to replace the

current registry with the old one. Instead, if you re-import the file,

it is merged with the current registry without deleting anything that

has been added since the export, leaving you with an absolute mess of

old and new entries.
