OK, last night, i remember seeing some automatic update thing that XP runs when it has a very important update and it forced my comp to reset while I was sleeping, this morning, I try to run MSN Messenger and it just doesn't work properly.. I don't know if that update was related to this or not, but when I try to start MSN Messenger 6.2, I only see 2 ppl online (not normal) and the tabs on the left don't load.. and I can't message people.. whenever I mouse over MSN, it gives me a busy icon or the array with busy icon thing...

I tried downloading and installing 7.0 but it was the same problem.. so I uninstalled it, installed 6.2 again but I still have the same problem.. It's not like it's using 100% CPU either, it's just not responding...

I tried web messenger and it works fine, so it must be something wrong on my side..

Oh, now I get some kind of pop up, but.. it's not 100% popping up, it stuck like this, indefinately...

Did you try the repair function from Windows Installer? If that doesn't work I suggest you delete the application data folder for MSN Messenger (you'll loose your display pic's when you do this), the folder location should be C:\Documents and Settings\{your username}\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger

nope, i've had that background for the longest time and it worked fine

oh it's quite easy, u just need a pic, save it as gif in a particular format, and put it in the directory..  here's a more detailed tutorial
