Out of all the antivirus software I've used, I definitely prefer NOD32. Unfortunately, I'd have to pay for it, so I don't use it at the moment. For a while I used AVG Free, which was pretty good, but now I'm running the Windows OneCare beta, so I'm using the antivirus included with that. Norton just sucks.

As there are so many recommendations on NOD32

i've decided to try it out with NOD32

currently i'm using it with avast together

i do like the interface, but i don't see the usage of resources lesser

when compared to my avast (using windows task manager ).

i've tried out with all the listed antivirus before, except for panda.

For free AV  , i would recommend Avast!

haven't tried AntiVir (Free - PersonalEdition Classic )

tried BitDefender 8 Free Edition, but crashes on my systems

For those that need subscription  , i would say

Kaspersky

still trying out with NOD32, cant really comment on it

For those users that believe in Norton, I think you should really try out with other AV

You might see the differences in the various AV and Norton.....

BTW, i was a devoted user of Norton,

but i later discovered that my PC of full of virus using

Kaspersky : Free Online Virus Scanner,

and it took too much of my resources...

a bit long winded, but hope it helps

nod32 due to blackbears setup from wildsecurity

586468766[/snapback]

I was interested in reading this as I am about to switch to NOD32 (for SAV 10) ... but I would like to point out a few issues ...

it was written by Blackspear not Blackbear

and the site is wilderssecurity(.com) not wildsecurity

:D

I am not making fun of you or anything, just making it easier for other users to find the guide if they want. In fact, Here is the direct link.

Wow! That is all I can say.

I have been a loyal supporter of Norton products for YEARS (even before Symantec bought out Norton), and have been running their anti-virus software for quite a while ... most recently SAV 10.01 ... However, due to the recommendations of this thread, I bought and installed NOD32. Like I said in the opening line, all I can say is WOW!! I am VERY impressed with it.

Having said that, add me to the list of people who switched from Norton to NOD32 and never looked back!

I'm currenty using Kaspersky. It's one of the best antivirus that I've used up today.

But if you're looking for a free solution, then I would go without no hesitation to Avast (almost the same as Kaspersky).

Both of these antivirus run smoothly on the computer. None of them uses much resources.
