Axel
Well, surely there's something odd about American football, when the players feel they have to wrap themselves up in all that padding. Not terribly manly, IMO. 585979790[/snapback] Not particularly... a gum guard is permisable... and maybe even a cup... to preserve your manhood! But nothing more!!! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/325084-interpretation-of-football/page/3/#findComment-585979839 Share on other sites

DreAming in DigITal
Well, surely there's something odd about American football, when the players feel they have to wrap themselves up in all that padding.? When you have a 350lb dude that can run a 40yd dash in about 4.8 seconds colliding with another dude half his size it could get really messy. If you look at some of the hits Safeys put on Recievers coming over the middle you would know what I mean...both are smaller players but the human body can't take the forces applied during one of those hits without the odds of serious injuries occuring. I really don't see alot of full speed hits in Rugby when I watch it...very few compared the NFL. One very good example of why pads are needed is a hit a couple years back when Warren Sapp drilled some dude on the Packers and damn near killed the guy. I think he missed 2 years rehabilitating? Both were "wrapped" in padding. I see some hits in rugby and some were really big, but there are more big hits are in american football, without the pads it would be deadly the amount of force in the hits. Its fun to see a reciever go for a catch in the air then BAM in the legs or mid section then we see the reciever do a 270 degree flip in the air. You just have to play it to understand the use of pads, where would i be if i didnt have pads ,how many teeth would i still have. :pinch: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/325084-interpretation-of-football/page/3/#findComment-585980857 Share on other sites

It's one of life mysteries like will we ever find another earth lol Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/325084-interpretation-of-football/page/3/#findComment-585982217 Share on other sites
