Why Do We Get Deja Vu's?

Recommended Posts

I heard that it's becuase of your brain, er, "lagging" for lack of a better word. It's when, for instance, two sets of nerves are supposed to be going at the same rate, but one "lags" behind, and the other reaches before, and then the other one reaches, causing a double..er, well, deja vu. :p But keep in mind I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Edit: obake is probably right.

I remember one deja vu event/attack (don't know what to call it)I had.

I was on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads (UK), we were in a pub playing darts and I stopped just before throwing a dart and said"you know, I'm sure I've been here and done this before". My mates fell about ****ing themselves with laughter. We had been on the beer and had been in the same pub about 30mins earlier and were playing darts then as well.

Too many pints of "Weasel (sp) ****" (a real beer), me thinks.

Deja-vu rocks, its interesting for me when i get it, makes me think that bit harder:P

The theories quoted in this thread are probably right.

the whole "say what someone says before they say it" is ENTIRELY different btw, i have done that once, ****ing CREEPY when you say an entire sentence or two of the same thing and the same, both totally stunned but dont stop till the end of the sentence not even thinking, looking at each other like "WTF"

well most of my deja vus are related to dreams i have had before.  i think that 90% of our brain that we dont use is busy making up elaborate things.  or maybe our life is predetermined and when we sleep we skip ahead in the story and read a page or two then continue on in real life and experience what we already read.  its like your own personal spoiler!!  :D  :ninja:

That seems to happen alot to me anymore. This used to not happen, but its very frequent. Because one time my friend tripped me and i busted my tooth cuz i wasn't aware he was comin up behind me and I smashed my chin on the ground. But instantly i matched the glare of the sun to my picture in my mind. I wasn't even concentrated on my bleeding chin or my tooth it was crazy. Half the time, I get fast images I can't even remember or can barely see until they happen. Then I can see the image perfectly and i'm like O_O.

I remember one night my entire dream was just a st ill image on a black background. It was of a symbol, not sure what it was for, but it had an american shield covering it, and..eh, I can't remember it too well. We went to a store later that day, and I saw it.

Plausable explanation. I like it.

yeah thats what i have when i have deja vu. obake post seems plausible but i don't experience the on-the-fly writing type. mine always seem to come from a dream or previously imaged scenario.

Kinky..

I'd be kind of scared in that store, expecting some life-changing event to happen.
