Tim Dorr Veteran Posted June 28, 2005 Veteran Share Posted June 28, 2005 http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ Download ahoy! Available on Software Update for you fellow Mac-heads. No official announcement at the moment. In fact, the only page that says 4.9 is the download page (even their front page still says 4.8 :| ). Objexxx
Yeah, I've had it for an hour or two now and it's pretty cool. Hopefully more people will do podcasts. I'd personally like to get a "Big Show" podcast, those guys are hilarious.

.weir
Macshrine reports that language files in iTunes 4.9 include messages referring to use of iTunes with mobile phones. MacRumors confirms that iTunes 4.9 includes messages such as "Phone Preferences", "Configure Phone", and "iPod Phone Prefs". Source This may explain the 'Mactel' patent. I hoped it had nothing to do with Intel chip naming.
krmathis
Why can't they release a version without QuickTime :pinch: 586131671[/snapback] They already do!I just downloaded the iTunes 4.9 version for Mac OS X and its 11MB, with no QuickTime included. ;)

richter
What is a Podcast? Look a few posts up. They already do!I just downloaded the iTunes 4.9 version for Mac OS X and its 11MB, with no QuickTime included. He was talking about Windows version. Yes, I'm aware what you were trying to say, but... QuickTime has to be included because iTunes uses it to encode files. There would be no support for encoding if there QT wasn't there. synchro
I might be an idiot, but I just need to get it confirmed ;) I've been using iTunes for quite some time now, but I've never been able to sort my own created playlists the way I want to. It only seems to sort the tunes by i.e track#, artist or song name. I want to sort the list anyway I want. regardless of the name or whatever. Is this possible to do? DreamweaverN
Still no Quicktime 7 for Windows :(. The package comes with version 6.5.2.

galoosh33
Quite a messy release- it took them quite some time to actually update the message on the iTunes front page, and when I 'check updates' in iTunes it still says 4.8 is the current version. Oh well, I can't wait to try Podcasting... :)
