did we ever hear rogers' side of the story? they were interviewing people that knew him, and they said he wouldn't do that unlses provoked.

if thats the case, i think the punishment is too harsh. personally, i'm sick of nosey photographers, press, media, etc. they are so unethical, and so ruthless, they are the ones that deserve the punishment.

for example, in the NBA, don't let every photographer sit 2 feet from the edge of the court. they have 500-800mm lens that can make an orange look like a basketball from 100 yards away. they don't need to be endangering the players (rodman, for example) by being that close.

He did punch a water cooler, doesn't seem like it takes a whole lot to provoke the guy. What he did was wrong, I thought the whole injury thing was a little ridiculous, however.. carried out on a stretcher, give me a break. Let the punishment stand, 20 games.. he's a pitcher so what he'll miss all of 4 starts.

the guy winked? are you serious? god, thats such bs. i'm sorry if you are a "paparazzi" type photographer, but you are nothing but scum. i hope the "photog" gets in trouble for filing false claims, i hope rogers countersues for defamation.

Yep, he winked. They asked him about it on ESPN and he said it was to let the other cameraman know he was ok, but it looked like one of those really suspicous winks. He was almost smiling.

i think its a good amount of time for him to learn a lesson. who does he think he is?? randy johnson?? :D

I wouldn't consider a local TV station paparazzi, I think he was just doing his job in which nobody else had a problem. I wouldn't consider what this cameraman did as invasion or nosey or anything else, Rogers was at work where you're going to be in front of cameras. If they're at your home, go ahead, get angry. But you know there's going to be some at your place of work. From what I heard, he was just shooting video of the people coming out of the dugout. Rogers then flipped his lid, he could have easily just went and did what he was supposed to do: Play some f'n baseball.

Wonder if I had been on the field just taking a photo he'd have done the same thing. Guy just needs to relax. Go punch another water cooler big man.

what did the guy do that defamed rogers? what would be the false claim? he pushed the camera into the guys head while the guy was filming, that can cause neck injury. as far as i could tell the guy was filming the team pregame as they do in all sports. rogers over reacted because he is mad at the media. he let his emotions get the best of him and made a boneheaded move.

i don't believe it was that simple...

we still don't really know his side of the story yet. i think we should hold judgement until rogers speaks.

you can't trust these types of cameramen, they are weasels. they will do anything for their 15 minutes of fame, or to get their shot/story on the cover.

i know if i was trying to walk down the sidewalk (aka randy johnson) and there was a camera 6" from my face the whole time, and i ask the guy to stop and he doesn't, i'd be throwing some punches too.

it's just getting out of hand, and there needs to be some restrictions put into place.

maybe, maybe not.

what if it was the camera guys fault? are you gonna go right back to the media to get your side of the story out, just to have them spin it against you again?

i still wanna hear what he has to say...

Apologies if I have the wrong end of the stick, but is this the Kenny Rogers who sang with Dolly Parton? Im not that aufait with American Football ...

If the camera man provoked him, fine, the camera man is just as big a douche as Rogers. Man up, welcome to the limelight.

 No, this is a baseball player.

I heard Kenny Rogers smacked Dolly Parton around too.

From the clips I have seen sop far, which admittedly haven't been many, it's not like the camera guys were going up and getting in his face. It seemed more like he approached them. Of course we don't know what, if anything, was said but that's the way it looked from what I saw.

He should be jubilant that it was only 20 games.

Man, are you kidding me? No offense BOOG, but you sure do go overboard on people you don't like. Barry Sanders is a prime example.

I think the fact that he hasn't tried to defend himself yet is telling enough.

Or maybe it's just that he's sick and tired of the media telling him what he is and isn't doing. In case you didn't know, the media said he was demanding certain issues about his contract that he contested he wasn't (and continued to do so), and the media also basically claimed he was being a wimp for not playing with a broken hand.

Sorry, but I don't think 20 games is deserved. I don't like the guy, but I think 10 to 15 games (MAX) would be fine. All the media people around here are whining that he's appealing, but I would, too. Namely the Start-Telegram, since they have some of the most biased and irresponsible writing I've ever read in the sports section of a newspaper.

Yeah, Kenny Rogers blew a gasket, but not as much as it's being made out to be.

If you or I did that to someone on the street, we would get atleast 10 days in jail. This penalty is too soft.
