You can change by adding -dxlevel 90 into your launch options... here are my scores in both 8.1 and 9.0

wow, quite a difference, not really gonna notice it notice it unless in the 32 + player servers.

i use that resoltion becuase its the native resolution for my tft.

Edit

i turned off AA and AF and stll got 55.5fps whats going on there

Anyone know what went wrong there, either the game actually didnt change the settings when it said it did. becuase surely turning off AA and AF should have incresed the fps but they didn't change at all

To all the people getting 100+ your running with Vsync off, when you're running at a higher rez like me or the thread starter running with vertical sync off the picture can break into 2 parts like your eyes are going cross eyed and can make you feel sick. if I deactivate vsync my score goes from 45fps to 122.4fps but if I do that I feel sick after a while of playing the game.

Just some info for some of you who are like "man your scores are so low!" in game I get on average 60fps (which vsync limits me to)

Well, the whole reason of me complaining about my FPS is because someone with the same specs as me can acheive a higher score. I am aware that an FPS over 60 has no qualities over an FPS of 60, however am still concerned that there is a problem with my machine.

BTW, with Omega Driver, r_mmx, r_sse, r_sse2 and DirectX8.1, Full Settings, 1280x1024, I am getting about 122FPS.

is it possible that you have Forced AA and AF?

Set those in the CCC to be chosen by Application.

i would but i seem to have lost the ATI options from display properties  funny becuase they were there after i reinstalled the ati drivers after putting the x800 in

i might change to the omega drivers i usally use those on the laptop (becuase the offical ones dont support my mobilty 9700)

Ok guys, I get 57 FPS in the test. My settings are all high, reflect everything, not world, and no AA/AF whatsoever. I have an A64 +3400, 1 GB RAM, and an Sapphire 9600SE. If I put on AAx2 I get 49 FPS. Do you guys think I should put AA on?

I personally lean towards no myself.

However, if you get a Consistent 49 FPS While playing the GAME ITSELF, if it truly makes that much of a difference visually and you enjoy playing the game more as a result of AA being on, I would say try them both out and see if youi notice a diference.

My Own Personal Suggestion: Try setting the reflections down one more setting. I think that will give you a pretty big boost and you might not even notice it is gone.

Also, what alot of people seem to be forgetting in this thread, is that we are all giving these numbers talking about "a stress test."

When I actually play the game, I go from 120 area FPS all the way down to 40-50 FPS area in some spots. It is usually a short period of time, but it still does happen. Sure, there are other factors in play than my video card when this happens, but since it is online the fact is it does happen. This is personally why I feel the higher you can average the better. Maybe I am crazy but that is how I see it.

However, WinMacLin does make a good point. If people are getting those scores, and you do have Vsync Enabled, then you are fine with scores in the 40's-50's. I was going on the assumption the settings were set to the recomended ones, , and I believe at default Vsync is disabled, I could be wrong there.

I get really low FPS in game, like from 15-50..

Athlon XP 2600+

512MB PC 3200 Ram

Sapphire 9800PRO 128MB

Asus A7V600 Socket A Mainboard

I have all setting on low, why is it so low??

Same specs i had Last time i played CS:S but i had gigabyte 7VT-600 fps wasnt to great with everything on low, id get like ~70 on the stress test but in game if theres alot of smoke and all hell breaks loose it goes down to like 10 :D. I found sticking DX level 7 on reduced the drop in FPS a bit, but not a whole lot.

I have a Asus A7V600 board now though with 1 GB ram still waiting to buy a new graphics card though, dont you love when hardware dies..

Your processor may need upgrading.

CS: Source is a VERY CPU reliant game.

Also guys, check this out:

I did what I was told, and my FPS went down to 114.08

what should I do?

what score should I be getting?

btw, what should the settings in my Catalyst control panel be?

because the game is now rendering with the full quality of DX9
