....
I don't see why this is an issue since Michelle Wie is competing as a man. How about you win an LPGA event first? RangerLG
At least she qualified for the event she is playing in. Remember, the PGA does not make stipulation as to the gender of their players, only the LPGA. bigbluepride35
Ok the immature 13 year old in me is coming out but did no one else find the guy's name amusing? What a difference a small typo could make. As for the story itself. Just odd. Reminded me of that movie from the early 90s where Rodney Dangerfield coaches an awful girls' soccer team and he gets his gf's son to play on the team. I think it was called Ladybugs. Though the PGA doesn't have a gender requirement, it's just silly for a woman to compete in that league when females already have a league for their gender. I mean, it just doesn't make sense... no offense, but if you're not going to win it, what's the point? Do you like defeat or something? I've got nothing against women's rights, but this is going too far. There's nothing wrong with someone like Danica Patrick racing in the Indy League since it's the only league, but why do women keep insisting on playing in men's leagues? RangerLG: That's because at the time the PGA was created it wasn't considered that maybe sometime down the road women would want to try. And then when women did actually start trying to qualify they realized if they tried to change the rules that they'd be facing a major PR hit. When the LPGA was formed they wanted their own league and they DID consider that maybe men would try to do that. RangerLG
My point was she qualified for the tournament shes in, why should she not be allowed to play. Its not like she got a free pass like Annika did for the Colonial. I personally feel that the PGA is for the best GOLFERS in the world. If that happens to be a woman, then so be it. Also, the women hit from the men's tees in these tournaments. As for your quote about not going to win, the same thing can be said for many men in the tournaments. Each week, only a handful of men have a decent chance of winning, why would the rest of the players bother? LispyGlitter2
Getting back on topic of this newsotry...She stated that she has been living as female. nd that she has both genders, qualifying her as a Intersexed, or as you might more know the term, hermaphrodite. The part that gets me is "Upon medical examination, it was discovered he was a he". True, she may have a penis, but there are lots of hermaphrodites that have cervical-like openings with skin covering it and fully functional penises (no, this isn't some nasty pr0n I'm watching). I still believe she is entitled to play in the gender she feels she is. Wie has the option -- and does, but numerous times refuses to -- play in the LPGA tournament. You stated yourself that the men do not have this option: the LPGA has denied men the right from playing in their tournaments since it's conception. Do you honestly think that if men were able to play there that none would?
