Hawk999
Thanks at all the answers, but something is still not clear for me, if they (Arch Enemy) have two guitarists, why the hell is only 1 in the video. (2 guitar players + bass player = 3 people, Nemesis video has only two...). And I'm sure I've seen a poster in Metal Hammer or something, only 4 people in the band. Hmmm maybe they dont have a permanent bass player? Ok here is the deal. Arch Enemy started with two guitarist that are brothers Michael and Christopher Amott. Around the release of their latest album 'Doomsday Machine' Christopher decided he needed a time out. So he left the band. On the 'Nemesis' video you saw, Christopher was gone but they did not have the new guy, Fredrik Akesson, yet. thats why you saw only one guitarist. You could have found this info right here: http://www.archenemy.net/ Google is your friend :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/344650-neowin-metal-club/page/29/#findComment-586956407 Share on other sites
Raum
If you ever need to know anything about a metal band, www.metal-archives.org is a wonderful place. www.darklyrics.com is good for lyrics as well. I'm a big fan of metal largely due to the same reason I am a fan of Prog Rock. Complex, interesting instrumentals. Compare a Nile song to say, Linkin Park. Now, you can like whoever you want, not arguing that....but just compare the talent and complexity as far as instrumentals go. Orange
So because you have little appreciation for a specific vocal style, it's now "mindless?" Right. If you're honestly interested in learning about it rather than poking little jabs at the genre, here you go. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music Arch Enemy has two guitarists, the Amott brothers or something. Their original singer was replaced for 2001's Wages Of Sin. I think their new singer is pretty damn hot, got to see her live....and her vocals aren't bad....just kind of generic as mentioned. I haven't even heard their more recent albums but they have been going in a bad direction from what I've seen. By the way, Gordian Knot is real good. Evergray bored the hell out of me when I saw them with Iced Earth though. You guys hear about the new Cannibal Corpse album? If I remember correctly, it's going to be titled "Kill." Hahah. Going to be interesting to see how they try and top their last outing. Can't wait for the new Corpse album. :D The guy who thinks metal is mindless.. he must only see what's on MTV which only does fake metal and makes kids think metal is like korn. Kev1n
The guy who thinks metal is mindless.. he must only see what's on MTV which only does fake metal and makes kids think metal is like korn. Read properly, I never said metal is mindless, I said the screaming is mindless to me at least. You think I like MTV? I only reason I sometimes (rarely) watch MTV is just to see the gals. You really think I like the majority of the bands on MTV? A lot of them suck. As Ive said I dont like metal solely because of the yelling, without the yells I think I'd love it. The intruments and all I like very much. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/344650-neowin-metal-club/page/29/#findComment-586958831 Share on other sites
Liandros
im more into the whole instrumental metal scene like Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Joe Satriani. i really enjoy all metal. i dont mind the screaming. just the deep, satanic screaming (or growling as i like to call it) gets on my nerves. cant understand a damn word they say. GFM
Metallica is what got me into listening to metal. Granted I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but they still have a place in my heart for them. Lately I've been listening to Trivium and Darkest Hour. IMO two amazing bands. I can't wait for the In Flames tour. I might go see them in Tempe. Fit4130Rider
Opeth is still the greatest band ever. But here lately I've been really into Anathema, Every Time I Die, Dream Theater, and Cryptopsy. If anyone knows Cryptopsy, then you'll know that not all Canadians are dumb. (jk canada!) King Raa
they played uk a while back didn't they? i was considering seeing them, opeth or procupine tree - i wanted to see P.T. but it was easiest to see Opeth (as I had a house to crash at) - opeth is brilliant, I need to get round to buying the new album (only know grand conjuration).. can anyone tell me if Finntroll will EVER play U.K. anywhere? I ... need to see them. . . even though I've only got one of their albums, its brilliant Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/344650-neowin-metal-club/page/29/#findComment-586966201 Share on other sites
