Not an Opeth fan I gather.

Never heard them. The metal bands I like:

Metallica: 80s stuff

Guns 'n Roses: 80s stuff

Iron Maiden: 1 or 2 songs

Dragonforce

Nightwish

Falconer

Power Quest

ERA

And a few others that I can't seem to think of their names at the moment.

I'm particularly fond of Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Bruce Dickinson, Megadeth, Metallica, Dream Theater, Demons & Wizards, Blind guardian, Pyramaze, Hammerfall, Helloween, Nightwish, Symphony X, Pantera, and several others.

Going to see Metallica in late October; I can't wait! :D

I was quite a Dragonforce fan until I went to their concert at The Tivoli in Brisbane last year... Didn't enjoy it at all. Haven't listen to them since.

Nightwish are great but I much preferred Tarja over Anette.

I've had periods of listening to Falconer and Power Quest to but haven't for a while now...

I mostly Listen to;

Opeth

Amon Amarth

Bloodbath

Edguy

Firewind

Hammerfall

Iced Earth

katatonia

The Morningside

Nevermore

Pyramaze

Sonata Arctica

Symphony X

Among many others.

Open to band suggestions based on those listed.

Need I say more...?

/Metal Salute

Awesome. * heads off to play some Blackwater Park*

I definitely dig some Opeth. Along with Amon Amarth, Cannibal Corpse, Boltthrower, Dark Tranquility, Dethklok, and Nevermore...that's the majority of my MP3 collection. :D

Well, I've seen video of Dragonforce's live performances, and they weren't all that great, but since they are going to be here in October I'll get a ticket and see for myself how they are live. Didn't much care for Sonata Arctica, they opened for Nightwish. Would love to see Falconer live, but they never seem to leave Europe. The metal I don't like, is the stuff where you cannot understand a word they are saying, it's like they're growling while talking to music.

VIKING METAL!!!!!!!

There was a band I came across last week, can't remember the name of it, but they sell themselves as viking metal.

About 2/3rds of my music collection is metal.

Aside from Dope and Chimaira, The ones ive seen live were all in a little club called "The Cove". No better way to see a band then in a small club.

Two of my favorites by them. I think my all-time favorite by Amon Amarth would be :

Impressive Collection :punk:

the new DH album is pretty good. i was scared w/ Kris Norris absent, but it's still good. there are some really sweet breakdowns.

im looking for new melodic death metal... im really into The Black Dahlia Murder. any suggestions? I recently started listening to As Blood Runs Black. it's decent, but there's no structure in their songs. i cant listen to the album and think "oh, i know that song!"

suggestions?

Some good melodic death metal would be In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Soilwork, At The Gates. I've never thought of TBDM as melodic death metal though.

I most definitely can't wait for the new BTBAM and TBDM, also I'm curious to hear the new Megadeth. However, I wasn't too pleased with their last effort.
