just a quick note , i just installed it on my Toshiba laptop and i got the BSOD just befour it dropped into windows...

There is *no* DOS in XP, nor 2000, nor NT. The Command Prompt is merely a shell...

The reason the boot screen has a low res/colour count is so that it can show on any computer, regardless of the display. Since the video driver is not loaded until Windows actually starts, there is nothing to show a high res mode.

and the good thing about it is that the program used to skin is free. and there is no hacking of winxp system files.
