You are correct sir. I'm at work right now so it's super-fast. I have 2 minutes left. I can't believe I just got 2.5 Gigs in under 30 minutes. Fastest I've ever downloaded in my life!

Let's not think that far ;) MSDN subscribers will, yes, and I doubt you are one.

Here are the sizes

> 32 bit not checked is 2.42Gb

> 64 bit not chekced is 1.73 Gb

Dont ask me why 64 is smaller thats just what the beta tester is telling us in the server newsgroups at MS.

Yes, and when it's gold anyone will be able to download it too directly from microsoft. For free.

Seriously, how many beta 2 OS releases has microsoft made available to anyone who wants it for free? Zero.

I'm not sure that's a good thing. Why such a big difference? Maybe less drivers, which means less hardware works correctly

This video has just posted

http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=92834

Today Microsoft is signing off on beta 1 of Windows Vista. There's a big party on campus and all that. Betas will soon be available for MSDN Universal, Enterprise, Professional, and Operating System Subscribers.

As usual, we wanted to get the straight scoop so we went to Chris Jones, who is a corporate vice president tasked with building and shipping a high quality Windows Vista product. He tells us what's in beta 1 and what to expect at the PDC.

I find it funny everyone is saying how "nice" the UI looks now, and a few months ago everyone was saying how "crappy" they looked when people like Paul Thurrot released concept ones that looked exactly the same as these ones
