TheTerminator
Hes gotta be lieing. Its sad all these great players careers are going to be overshawdowed by their use of roids. It seems like thats the only reason theyve eveer been any good now. bigbluepride35
Wow, could the timing of this be any worse for him? Just after hit 3,000 and the debate about his Hall of Fame status started to fire up. Gee, I wonder if this will hurt his chances. And to test positive this far into the season wouldn't he have to have been using DURING the season? If so, that's just dumb. Ayepecks
Wow... he didn't seem like the kind of guy to take them at all. Nice guy, real class act -- he was a fan favorite here in Texas because of that. Kind of surprised, kind of not surprised, though. L3thal Veteran Posted August 1, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 1, 2005 I was shocked with this statement by MLB. I would think that Palmeiro would be one of the good examples of baseball players around. Bearded Kirklander
Jose Canseco is looking more and more vindicated all the time, sadly. Viagra boy lies under oath. Oh man... At least Jason Giambi admitted it and worked hard to build himself back up and is succeeding without steroids, as far as can be determined. Sometimes simply admitting your wrongs and working hard to repent, if you will, goes a long way. bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 1, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 1, 2005 He could be in serious legal trouble for perjury as a result of this. Not only that, he comes off looking like a scumbag, a cheater, and his hall of fame chances are definitely going to be lowered now. What an idiot. christracy
lowered?? how about nil. lied to a congressional committee and took steroids on top of that! he was a debatable HoF canidate before I wouldn't be surprised if it takes him more than two tries to get in. Steffan
It would be nice of MLB would publish a book of banned substances. The Olympics does. They keep it updated as well. Palmero might have been taking a vitamin or even viagra. We don't know what he was taking. All 7 players, that have been suspened, have said they didn't know it was a banned substance. Its up to you if you believe them or not. This is another growing pain of MLB's drug testing. quigley0
Well, I dont think that Perjury is an issue, because a) I dont think that has happened since like the 50's, and b) There is no proof that he lied. Unless the test was positive BEFORE the hearing. I have come to the conclusion that probably a good amount of players are on steriods. And, I dont really care. I still say that baseball wanted players on steroids, because big homeruns draws fans to the games. I agree with the purists, but, there are not enough purists to fill up seats in the stands. And sure, average joe will say " i am outraged by this", but then, 5 years from now when all games go back to scores of 2-1, 3-2, he'll also say "I just find baseball boring". Although, a close pitchers duel is very exciting. But, baseball can't keep up with the excitement of football. I say let the ball players use roids, it is what we really want, whether we realize it or not. Why do you think baseball juiced the ball, or put the logo on the ball making it easier to see? More runs == more people in the stands. Or, we could just watch football. bigbluepride35
He's starting to look worse and worse as more details emerge. And the MLB seems to STILL be trying to protect its big-name players no matter what. Gosh forbid we make him look bad by not promoting his accomplishment even though he cheated to get it! Palmeiro had tested positive for steroids in May and his case was in the middle of an unexpectedly drawn-out appeals process. [...]According to several sources, MLB knew that a potential Hall of Famer had taken Stanozolol, a drug that could not have come from a tainted diet supplement. So once Palmeiro reached his elite mark, should MLB pay for full-page newspaper ads to congratulate him? It had done it for all the other recent club members. If it didn't, wouldn't that be an enormous flashing sign that something was wrong? If they wanted to protect him they would've have revealed it to begin with. I think they just wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and not tarnish his name in case the test was inaccurate. Bearded Kirklander
MLB knew that a potential Hall of Famer had taken Stanozolol Another "Anonymous source" inside of an organization breaking the rules and releasing data that is supposed to be confidential. Oh man. I guess they wanted to put to rest any thought that this might be some kind of "accidental off the shelf supplement" cause for testing positive, but still, it violates the confidentiality terms of the CBA. I'm not saying that I agree with the confidentiality thing, but it is in the contract and to have a rep for MLB leak this info is distasteful on some level.
