stncttr908 Veteran Posted August 10, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 10, 2005 During the game tonight vs. the White Sox, someone fell from the upper deck into the netting behind home plate. He climbed his way back up and was led away by security. A bit too much to drink perhaps? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/photos?photo...ameId=250809110 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/356567-fan-falls-from-upper-deck-into-netting/ Share on other sites

IndianPimp99
I read that he jumped. He was with three friends and wanted to see if the netting could hold him so he jumped. Went to a hospital just to check out his neck and all and is probably going to be charged with reckless behavior, criminal tresspassing, and some other things I can't remember. Idiot. You gotta come up with a story before you jump. Like "Hey guys, if this leads to cops being involved just say that I had my back to the railing and you tossed me my hat and it went over and I tried to get it, lost my balance and fell. Got it. Back, hat, balance, fell. Cool, Let's see what happens." Then jump. bigbluepride35
Wow. Someone had a little too much . Maybe it led to an :argue: with a friend in which he was told to jump off a cliff and he decided to do the next best thing. He deserves a :punch: and a :trout: for his stupidity. He also should get his head examined :doctor: . I'm sorry. I was bored lol. IndianPimp99
Well, Wrigley doesn't have the netting like Yankee Stadium though the OF basket that catches some HR was actually installed to keep fans from jumping onto the field. If you watch "This Old Cub" you can see archive footage from the '60 that show people sitting on the OF wall like their just sitting on a ledge. After some big wins they'd storm the field. I actually thought of that story on the spot but it does seem like it might work. ESPN was reporting that it was a 40 foot drop so it's not really all that bad. Just don't think it would've been fun enough to warrant the potential penalty (fine and/or community service I'm guessing). stncttr908 Veteran Posted August 10, 2005 Author Veteran Share Posted August 10, 2005 Has anyone else ever seen the video (I think it was Giants Stadium) where the guy jumps over the railing to catch the PAT or field goal that just went through the uprights? He jumped over that railing, onto the concrete. He made the catch too if I'm not mistaken. Now that's hardcore. Not this clown. I wish I could find the video... bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 10, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 10, 2005 can anyone explain the pic i posted? did he jump from the next level up? 586356779[/snapback] I don't know where he jumped from. They didn't catch him doing it in the game, but he landed half way down the net, so I believe it would have had to be from the upper deck to get that far out. edit: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?i...TC-DT9705204233 it was the upper deck Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/356567-fan-falls-from-upper-deck-into-netting/#findComment-586356803 Share on other sites

I remeber that and then they interviewed the guy later he was like, "I got great hands, I played football in school, I got great hands." Guy was a few sandwiches shy of a picnic and about 12 beers deep. The netting connects to the railing at the loge level which is one level below so it was a decent fall. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...ing_pricing.jsp The diagram on the right shows a cross-section of the stands. He basically crawled on the net to that railing so they could escort him out afterwards. Not sure if that was clear so just in case. bangbang023 Veteran Posted August 11, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 11, 2005 He, at first, crawled forward a little hoping he would go down the front but they yelled at him to go the other way. In the process of doing so, he almost backed right into the hole he created. They, again, had to yell at him to make him aware of the hole a foot or so behind him.
