If you want to do a clean install of Win 98 simply use a Win 98 Start up disc. Boot off the flopy. at the line A: type in C: now that your at the C prompt tyoe in format c: /s that will erase the Hard drive. then reboot, choose start up with cd rom support then use the drive letter for the cd rom, should be E: then type setup and there you go install Win 98

if you have a real 98 cd. it is a bootable cd. you dont need a startup disk or boot disk. the cd is the boot disk.

chenge the boot order in you bios to boot first to the cd rom drive and thats it. you can fdisk and format right from the cd itself..

Once you format your harddrive (I believe fdisk on your Win98 cd will do this, or the above option) then just stick in the Win98 cd and follow onscreen instructions. Just be sure that you got all you want to keep stored somewhere else other than your harddrive!:)
