Miranda HOWTO

From:

http://forums.miranda-im.org/showthread.php?t=4051&page=2

This is what you need to fill in (make sure you check the 'Show expert options' on the bottom left checkbox), on Options-->Network-->Jabber:

Username: <your gmail account (without the "@gmail.com")>

Password: <your gmail account password>

Login Server: gmail.com

check the 'Manually specify connection host' and fill:

Host: talk.google.com

Port: 5223

Copy ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to your miranda installation directory (_not_ to the Plugins directory), you can find them at http://jabber.au.edu/miranda/openssl097d_dll.zip.

Leave everything else untouched! Happy 'Jabber'ing!

It may take a little time to login as the servers are getting slashdotted.

The story went up on slashdot a little while ago.

I can login fine with gaim on my linux box.

Still isn't letting me in and I was like the first to get it working! PFFT!

What's up with people putting gmail.com in as the server? There's no Jabber server on gmail.com that I can access... WTF?

look at my post above

The server uses gmail to verify.

Actually, fatjoe151 is correct. You need to specify a "connect server" in the advanced options if you use Gaim.

The username is your gmail username and the server is gmail.com. The connect server, however is talk.google.com.

It was working when I used talk.google.com as the server, but this is no longer the case. Oh well, it's working for me again! :)
