Sharpstick68
I'm buying this case and some people in the review said it comes with a 24 pin connector and that most mobos are 20 pin. How can I tell how many pins my motherboard is? I'm getting these items that I wanna know about and tried manufacturers website. MPH
The motherboard has 20 pins. Check the motherboard photo at ABIT's website and enlarge the photo. stncttr908 Veteran Posted September 5, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 5, 2005 I can tell you right off the bat that the board is 20-pin, but you can just count them. The PSU is also 20-pin, as shown in this picture. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.as...ly%20-%20Retail Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/368108-how-to-tell-a-pin-type-for-a-motherboard/#findComment-586481371 Share on other sites
Sharpstick68
I dont know why, this guy wrote The power supply that comes with this case has a 24 pin mobo connector! Most mother boards have a 20 pin connector. Make sure your mother board has a 24 pin connector, or buy an adapter. It is very disappointing when you go to build your computer and realize you have to wait for an adapter, so be prpared. Other than that, the case is ok. Absolutely no instructions were included and there are a lot of wires to connect for the front panel display. I ended up leaving most of them unconnected as I could not figure out where they went. It's also a very tight fit to get any of the drives in. I would suggest installing them before you do anything else. The three case fans are nice and very quiet, they keep the temp very cool. Installed an EPoX EP-9NDA3J Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - no problems there. Thats why i thought it was 24 pins Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/368108-how-to-tell-a-pin-type-for-a-motherboard/#findComment-586481401 Share on other sites
stncttr908 Veteran Posted September 5, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 5, 2005 The picture might very well be wrong. If you're worried, get an adapter with your setup. Per our conversation the other day I understand you're on a tight budget, but they're cheap. Mr. Chronopoulos
my eyes!! they burn!! that is not the case you want! and power supplies that come with cases are utter poo if you ask me. get this case with this power supply. much better choice! any case that cheap that comes with a power supply is bound to be a crappy case and have an unreliable psu Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/368108-how-to-tell-a-pin-type-for-a-motherboard/#findComment-586481482 Share on other sites
stncttr908 Veteran Posted September 5, 2005 Veteran Share Posted September 5, 2005 So you just took him from a $48 solution to a $190 solution. This guy is on a really tight budget. I talked to him on MSN the other day and he's trying to eek out the best system he can. What you have suggested is totally unreasonable.
