How to tell a pin type for a motherboard

Recommended Posts

I'm buying this case and some people in the review said it comes with a 24 pin connector and that most mobos are 20 pin. How can I tell how many pins my motherboard is? I'm getting these items that I wanna know about and tried manufacturers website.

The power supply that comes with this case has a 24 pin mobo connector! Most mother boards have a 20 pin connector. Make sure your mother board has a 24 pin connector, or buy an adapter. It is very disappointing when you go to build your computer and realize you have to wait for an adapter, so be prpared.

Other than that, the case is ok. Absolutely no instructions were included and there are a lot of wires to connect for the front panel display. I ended up leaving most of them unconnected as I could not figure out where they went.

It's also a very tight fit to get any of the drives in. I would suggest installing them before you do anything else.

The three case fans are nice and very quiet, they keep the temp very cool.

Installed an EPoX EP-9NDA3J Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - no problems there. Thats why i thought it was 24 pins

my eyes!! they burn!! that is not the case you want! and power supplies that come with cases are utter poo if you ask me. get this case with this power supply. much better choice! any case that cheap that comes with a power supply is bound to be a crappy case and have an unreliable psu

So you just took him from a $48 solution to a $190 solution. This guy is on a really tight budget. I talked to him on MSN the other day and he's trying to eek out the best system he can. What you have suggested is totally unreasonable.

my bad then. had he mentioned his budget, i would not have made said suggestions

It's cool man, but even without a budget given it's a little unreasonable to recommend something 4x more expensive.
