Venus Williams: Sore Loser

``I was playing decent and she started playing really bad and it totally threw me off,'' Williams said, whose lack of graciousness after the match equaled her lack of precision during it. ``She started hitting these really weird shots and short balls, just weird stuff. Next thing I knew I was playing as bad as she was. She was able to recover. I just wasn't. I guess maybe it was a good strategy.''

dang, thats some pretty harsh stuff to throw out there.  i just watched the whole match, and it was a pretty good 3 setter.  it just looked like venus was worn out at the end.

Agreed... it was so obvious, to blame it on the opponent is not a smart excuse. She was just completely was beginning to show signs of exhaustion by the middle of the 2nd set. I thought something was wrong with her because this match could've easily gone her way... if she didn't burn out so quickly :s

However, after seeing them play, i am wondering how Sharapova is #1... she didn't seem like it today. Then again, neither did Federer, which was really strange. They both let their opponents give them a run for their money. Concerning...

I didnt see the match, but it sounds an awfull lot like the 'trick' Michael Chang once pulled on I think it was Ivan Lendl at Roland Gaross. He even used low-hand serves and didnt move much anymore for quite some time, he claimed he was suffering from cramps and the all of a sudden he started running around the court again, that really threw his opponent of the mark, funny dont even remember if he won that match....

I like Jim Rome's shot yesterday on Rome Is Burning about the Williams sisters.

He started off by saying their reality show is crap...haven't seen it but one can imagine. Then he went into the whole deal about how they've played each other 14 damn times now yet they keep saying "It's tough playing her, it really doesn't feel right." And he capped it off by saying that they are both 7-7 against each other and that it was a fix that Venus won. Hahaha.

They were cool to watch their first few years but their heads have really outgrown their game.

How is it that Maria Sharapova enters virtually EVERY tennis conversation even when it begins having nothing to do with her? lol. I'm not complaining or anything, especially when we get pictures (thank you BroChaos  ) but I just find it amusing that she manages to make her way in there almost every time lol.

off-topic but related: How about the U.S. men finally showing up big in a Grand Slam? 3 out of the final 8 and will have 2 of the final four? Not too shabby. What about Robby Ginepri riding the crowds to the semis? Talk about home-court advantage.

Absolutely not. Everyone's trying to make out that she is the next Anna Kournikova, but she just isn't very attractive and the way she moves on the court is so unattractive.
