[NHL] Why the change...again?

Recommended Posts

I complained the last NHL season (2003-04) :( ,

that the teams did a "180" by wearing dark sweaters (jerseys) at home and white on the road.

The tradition is white at home, dark on the road. I have noticed the change has contined this

2005-06 "pre-season". Why?

Is it some sort of way to be different from the NBA?

Whatever the reason, I don't like it and never will. I would have thought if the NHL were to get back to the

"good 'ole days" they would have gone back to the traditional white at home, dark on the road.

But I guess they think if they score more and have fewer ties, we won't care. Still disappointed.

Your (NHL fan) thoughts on the matter...

I totally agree, I never cared for the dark jerseys as the home jerseys, it makes my brain think football and the only reason they did it is because they felt this way, the teams could wear their alternative, 3rd jerseys, or vintage jerseys more often. And to emphasis what i said earlier, I hate the dark jerseys as home and the whites as away.

hmm, weird, i didn't know it changed, but i was arguing with my friends the other day, i said white is home and dark is away. they said dark should be home, or at least that's how it was in basketball. so it shouldn't be to be different from the NBA, since this is the same i think....

whaaat are you guys talking about? "good ole' days" ARE the dark jerseys. I dont wanna see my habs in that ugly white jersey, go back to the "good ole' das" with rocket richard where every team only had 1 jersey and thats the dark sweater... so much nicer, home town gets to see the real deal :)

I like the change. The dark jersey are usually much closer to the team's colors in their logos or what-not. Plus, personally, I like the Rangers' dark jerseys more than their white ones. I guess I follow the football philosophy that your team color shirt should be your home shirt.

i heard they swithced their home/away colours so that they could wear their 3rd/alternate jerseys more often, hoping to increase sales.

doesnt matter to me hockey is hockey...

oilers should switch back to their vintage style though :shifty:

Same here. The sale of team road jerseys and the alternates were lacking. I was a plan to hopefully up the sale on all jerseys.

I honestly like the darker jerseys. Having my Leafs in Maple Leaf Blue is better than having them in white.

Often home teams would wear dark third jerseys, so road teams would be forced to bring both sets of jerseys, one for when the home team wore white, and one for when the home team wanted their third jersey worn.

I really couldn't care what jersey was used, but it is hard to get used to after so many years of the white home/dark away rules.

In football, i think the home team choses what color they want to wear.  I think they should do that for hockey.

Wear white if you want, or black, or red,...or whatever.

Then teams have to drag both sets with them on road trips.
