i am recieving random blue screen of death's. maybe like 1 or 2 a day, sometimes none.

was wondering how i could isolate the problem, could it be my ram? whats that lil utility to test the ram?

i also noticed audio playing recently stutters quite a bit sometimes. could also be my soundcard..

i had the bsod's before the audio problems, and i recieve them with or without my cpu overclock

any help would be appreciated..

when you get into windows, check the event viewer for details on the cause of the BSOD.

Another reason for random BSODS aka blue screen of deaths is your graphics card drivers. When I quit (logged out) of Guild Wars I would get BSOD, not all the time but at least 35% of the time. Then it happened in Far Cry during lan, but apart from that it only happened after quiting Guild Wars. I downloaded a new Nvidia patch and now I dont have any BSODS. Try getting newest vga drivers.

no problem. if you wanna find out another possible cause, then try running prime 95 and see how quickly the torture test blue screens your machine. when my motherboard or cpu started acting funny about a year go i ran prime 95 and my machine died in about 15 minutes. i have since upgraded and i ran prime 95 for about 17 hours on my new build and there was no problems. definately run it and see how long it lasts.

If you're running Windows XP, after it reboots it should say "The system has recovered from a serious error," and let you send an error report. Then it should tell you what caused the problem, if it can determine the cause.

If it doesn't say that it's your video driver or something like that, it's probably bad memory or an overheating CPU, insufficient power supply... something like that.

stress test has been running for 24 mins now.

not sure if this helps, but when i recieve the BSOD's, its usually when im surfing the internet, listening to music in foobar, messaging on msn.. nothing too demanding of my cpu/ram etc..

another thing that pops in my mind (didnt think of it earlier)

installed a wifi card (dlink dwl-g524) and a week or so after i randomly recieved bsod's.. card never acts up and i do have the newest drivers

i think it's probably safe to say that the blue screen isnt due to your mobo or cpu. what were the results of the mem test? also, did you manage to look up the error code?

i havent ran the mem test yet, been too busy ( i let it run the other night through like 2 tests, and it reported no errors, ill finish it someother time).

i havent been able to find the error code anywhere in my events viewer, and i havent had a bsod in a few days, no idea whats goin on with it.

try sending that to dlink and see if maybe you can get a copy of some older drivers, or if you havent had the card that long, try returning it to the store and get a different brand... i know with circuit city you can do that.
