This thing is full of bugs. I am amazed they hyped this up as much as they did. The title bars are full of bugs. The program almost never draws them correctly. Once they go inactive, they seem to freeze in the inactive state, and never return. Also there is a huge difference in the title bar, the side panes, and the bottom caption of the window. Maybe it is just the skin, but it seems like it is full of bugs. Changing themes causes it to lock up most of the time which requires a hard boot. I am not impressed.

Edit: just read some previous posts, seems as though it is a problem with geforce cards. I have 2 7800GTX and there are loads of problems.

Ouch, glad you shared your opinion of it, your card falls into the problems they were talking about.. lets hope its fixed in the final. Lets also hope their subscribers drive wasnt supposed to be backboned by this release

Stardock is a good company, lets hope they can put their heads together and come up with something.

Trying it out now. It has 3 new themes that look pretty nice. WB no longer loads in the system tray and it seems pretty buggy at this point. Of course it's only a Beta so we probably should expect that. At this point sometimes you can drag window sometimes you can't. It has great potential though.

ALPHA!

We've been working hard to try and find a workaround for the nvidia problem tonight, as it wasn't showing up in all cards we tested with. But, thanks in part to the feedback here and on IRC (when someone wasn't demanding a free copy in private messages), it appears other more recent cards are sometimes impacted as well.

It's being worked on. The build's been available a whole 90 minutes at this point. Do something else for the evening and we'll see where things stand tomorrow.

Too buggy for me at this point. I wasn't expecting to have to go out a buy a new video card to run WB5. Back to 4 for now. Too bad!!!

Stardock developers may have found a workaround for the bug. We are putting it through testing right now. Stay tuned!

there seems to be a weird ghosting problem on the taskbar.. when you close a given program, it's ghost remains in the taskbar.. suckz i have an nvidia 6600gt.. the titlebars definitely aren't right.. oh well i'll look forward to further fixes :)

That is great news. Hopefully it will be released this evening. I am very anxious to get this working.

There is a 4.90a build up now with a refresh to work around the nvidia problem and an updated substyle for the Arrow skin. Please make sure you reboot after updating to let Windows replace the locked files. There may also be an issue with RunDLL32.exe if you don't have SP2 or later, we're looking into it, but it's not something that'll be sorted tonight.

WB 4.90a beta

-------------

-Added a workaround for problems reported with NVIDIA cards. We were

able to reproduce a new test case by toggling dual-head mode where

the NVIDIA drivers that had previously been working started failing

due to issues with the alpha channel during GDI operations.

-Refreshed Arrow skin/substyles.

-There are some reports of a problem with Winzip extraction with

the main Winzip interface, we'll be looking into those. The context

menu options may be happy still. (thank you ByronT)

-The systray icon not being visible is a "feature" of this build. It'll

be coming back in later releases in a different way.

Please make sure your dll is updated after updating, a reboot should

do it. Again, you must reboot after the initial beta install to

enable skinning.
