mikebiacsi
predictions for playoff spots and the outcomes of all the games anyone? East:- 1:Ottawa 2:Carolina 3:NY Rangers 4:Buffalo 5:Philly 6:New Jersey 7:Tampa Bay 8:Atlanta Ottawa will take this conference by one or two points over Carolina and Atlanta will get the 8th spot, but only just. West:- 1:Detroit 2:Dallas 3:Colorado 4:Nashville 5:Calgary 6:Los Angeles 7:Edmonton 8:San Jose Detroit will take the Western Conference quite comfertably, Colorado will do just enough to take the Northwest division from Calgary and San Jose will do enough to take the final spot. My pick for the Stanley Cup is going to be Carolina, especially if they get Cole back. Matrix XII
I think Detroit or Carolina will have a great shot at winning it this year. Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 20, 2006 Veteran Share Posted March 20, 2006 pittsburg needs a new stadium, 2 blackouts pfff ruined my leafs game. Yeah, those two blackouts ruined the Leaf's 5 minute major powerplay. They failed to register a shot at all. The two games against Montreal should be interesting, not that I'm expecting a playoff birth or anything. bayrider
Habs aren't going anywhere in the playoffs ;) no one said anything about the playoffs Matrix... we're not delusional like some fans who plan the parade route after a win *cough* Leafs *cough* and last i checked Vancouver was in the exact same position as Montreal Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587351347 Share on other sites
Matrix XII
I never said Vancouver was going anywhere either :p They have a tough road ahead of them, and yeah, the Leafs are done. :| Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587351556 Share on other sites
Axon
Not only did the Canucks win last night, they looked damned good. Though they were only playing LA Kings, they were playing as a team and they kept out of the penalty box (for the most part). I hope this puts some life back into these guys, and they can sturdy themselves going into the playoffs. -Ax Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587358909 Share on other sites

mikebiacsi
The avs are leading the northwest divion now which is good news, now all they have to do is keep it. Their next game is against Calgary. Should be an interesting game, too bad there isn't any hockey coverage in Britain. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587361949 Share on other sites
Axon
I'm really pleased to see Calgary suffering. Hopefully their little loosing stint lasts and they drop in the rankings  -Ax Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587363400 Share on other sites
R-Flex
Even if Vancouver reaches the playoffs, which still remains in doubt, they won't advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs. mikebiacsi
True, at the moment they are in a much better position than Edmonton are. Im still betting on San Jose making it to the playoffs in place of Vancouver or Edmonton though. Steffan
Martin Brodeur got his 438th victory today with the win over the Flyers. He's fourth all time now. Only Sawchuck (447), Belfour (457), and Roy (551) have more victories than him. The amazing part about it is, he has done this with one team. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=260401015 http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2242316 (all time victory list) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/381350-official-nhl-2005-2006-season-thread/page/12/#findComment-587374221 Share on other sites
bayrider
And Brodeur recently re-signed with the Devils for another 4 or 5 years!!! So he is on pace to even beat Roy if he doesnt fall to injury, or begin to suffer to old age. Fred Derf Veteran Posted April 2, 2006 Veteran Share Posted April 2, 2006 The Leafs beat Buffalo 7-0. They're playing as if they think they can still make it. Or maybe they are relieved that the pressure is off.
