Konami has some big plans for Winning Eleven on the Xbox 360. In an interview in the latest Famitsu, series producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka revealed that not only does he plan on including Xbox Live Online play with the upcoming Xbox 360 version, but he eventually hopes to realize full 11 versus 11 Online play. It's unclear if we can expect this feature in the next installment, which is due on Xbox 360 in late 2006, but Takatsuka feels that 11 versus 11 play is something that Xbox 360 and other next generation systems should be capable of.

Takatsuka also reveals to the magazine that his team is planning a number of things for future Winning Eleven installments, including creating more accurate digital representations of real world athletes. The future is bright for soccer fanatics.

Does this mean you if you have 22 players online each one can be a single player doing his own role?

I always thought it would be cool to make a MMO-sports game. Like, you ARE your position. You go up in skill by training, practicing and playing the games. It would be neat, because teams would form, and, if you weren't good enough, etc, you were off the team, just like real life. Your perspective of the game is strictly from your POV, unless you were the coach, etc.

Err, sorry, that got way off topic.

I am very glad to see 360's push for a quality XBL experience...

Reading this reminded me of an old PSONE game I played by Namco called

Liberogrande it was pants, but then again the PSONE didn't really have the power to pull it off. Could work though on something with a bit more horsepower

That's because North Americans are weird.

Nah, we just like sports where the clock counts the correct direction and the flow of play differs from the traditional pass-pass-pass-lob-pass-pass-pass we see in soccer. ;)

My three favorite sports are baseball (go Astros!), football (go Steelers!), and hockey (go Penguins!), although I do have to admit that World Cup soccer can be pretty exciting, largely because of the world-wide uproar about it.
