This is why some Americans need serious help in basic English grammar. This guy used up three lifelines on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on a simple grammar related question - even with 75% of the audience choosing the RIGHT answer... and he loses.

Another Canadian attacking Americans. Is it out of jealousy? Anyway, this post was just made to start a fight and you're not worth it.

You know, sometimes I'm a little embarrassed when pretentious Canadians imply their superior knowledge or all around better standing with posts like that. Look man, I'm Canadian and I love my country, but people like you are starting to give us a bad name with the repeated condemnation of our American friends. The guy that screwed up on the TV show was super nervous and it had absolutely nothing to do with where he was born. Grow the hell up and start respecting our neighbours; they're pretty much like us, working "joes" that are going through life earning a buck and trying to support their families.

Ugghh...sorry for my rant.

Wow Your cool. Here you go 2 cool pointes,

while i am inclined to agree that the pressure must be enormous, missing such a simple question is unacceptable. i asked my little brother if he knew the answer and he got it right.

also, while the guy was mumbling to himself trying to make himself sound knowledgable, he said "but an adverb or an adjective describes an action".

an adjective does not.

Whoa, hold on. For the people bitching about my generalization, calm down. I didn't mean it. I said SOME, not ALL.

If you were offended, I'll take it back. And to prevent any further flaming, I will edit the first post.

btw for anyone too embarrased to ask (and wouldn't be suprised considering the way people are killing the poor guy, lol), you can basically think of it as active verbs being done by the subject and passive verbs being done to the subject. eg)

Active: Granny kicked the sailor

Passive: The sailor was kicked by granny

I wouldn't have had a clue about the answer either if I hadnt done any languages

[edit] changed someone to subject

Yeah they do. They have to pass some test conducted over the phone. Maybe he just blindly chose random answers?

The whole point is "Do you know the guys heritage?", he could be from Canadian background and live in America. All the stupid threads that TRY and take cheap shots at others countries is absurd.
