MS 'unsurprised' by a 2007 launch for PS3

sony have messed up badly as a company over the last few years. they need the ps3 next year. and howard stringer is depending on it reducing sony's losses.

i am worried that, although it may come out in Japan and the US in 2006, Europe may get it very late in 2006.

I dunno, I think Europe is gonna get screwed over more than you think. If they release in Spring 2006 in Japan, then it'll probably be Fall 2006 (November, probably) in NA and Spring 2007 in Europe. Gotta keep in mind, Europe always gets screwed by the game companies!

I don't think Sony care. They know full well they'll win the console war, they've had such a good footing for years now.

...Only 2 generations. No one has stayed on top of the console world for every long, think about it. Atari for a few years, nintendo for a few, then sony. I say Sonys time is up, X360 I believe will take it this time around.

Wow, I don't want to sound mean, but I've only been on this forum for like two days and I can tell one of two things about many people here just from reading through two threads:

1. They are completely biased against Sony.

2. They are completely brainwashed by the Xbox360.

People are already making comparisons about hardware when one system's hardware isn't even set in stone, yet they are already claiming one to be more superior. And the last time I checked more powerful hardware doesn't sell consoles nor does more powerful hardware make better games. I can't believe it has come to the point when people are more concerned about the hardware then the games. About ten years ago people used to argue who was the better character, Mario or Sonic, not who had the better processor.

I like the Xbox as much as the next person, but man some people are so out of touch with reality in the gaming world it is not even funny, it is actually quite sad.

Yeah, I kinda got that in my first two days, too . I'm a rare Neowinian breed of 'Nintendo fan at heart' mixed in with 'I Like games from all the consoles' (though i'm more of an X-Box guy I guess, they've really made me turn my head :))

EDIT: sundayx, what *was* the results of that flame war, fyi? I joined after that era (thank god) ;)

I think Sony will have the next-gen until maybe the gen after that. Sony just grew on people and Microsoft just needs time to establish itself worldwide and not just US. Sony needs to rethink its online service. And lets face it Xbox 360 sales will double when Halo 3 comes out and Sony needs a franchise just like that.

Halo 3 at launch would've been killer. But apparently that's not possible or else they would've released it. And I don't think they should wait for it, they got many other good titles to make up for lack of Halo 3. MS has done everything right with the xbox business (except for the original controller, which they quickly fixed with the smaller one). Sony should worry... a lot. Dreamcast died because of lack of game developer support, x360 doesn't have this problem, they got plenty of support this time around. Couple that with a year head start on the PS3, whose specs and pricing are still unclear.

there were no results for the flame war, it was "majority ds" bashing psp. revolutionary, duel screen, touch screen vs psp suq, battery life 30min, loud noise, disc popping kind of stuff.

however now, sales results, popularity, styling, trend, says it all. ds imo isnt even a competitor, well i wasnt directly anyways cause supposely different "market" but people just bashed the psp and say sony will lose everything. guess not.

im just brining this up to summarize the situation with xboxps3revolution

YES Ridley that is my point.

edit: why does sony have to worry about developer support. their backup is much bigger in terms of world market. please, dont be fooled.

halo 3 will be a big sale for xbox majority in the north america market. final fantasy has a long road ahead in terms of asian market. it is the same.

I agree, its just most people here work with computers a lot which is where Microsoft comes in. Plus the Xbox is literally a computer. People are just used to trusting Microsoft.

Even if people like Microsoft and this is a Microsoft enthusiast site, it doesn't mean they have to be ignorant of what is going on in the gaming world. I use Windows and I have an Xbox, but that doesn't mean I should make outrageous remarks.

I read remarks like "Xbox360 is going pwn the Playstation just because!", "Sony is showing nothing, they are scared!", and "Xbox360 is going to take the market from Sony". In reality it is more like "who has owned the console market sales wise for the past two generations, why the dramatic change?", or "where was Xbox360 a year ago before it's launch?", or "what about the other side of the coin, what if Sony takes away from Microsoft's marketshare?"

I think DS is still pretty much popular sales numbers wise. You might have to wait for the Nintendo fanboys to come with exact sales numbers. ;)

And last time I checked a majority of the PSP users used it for watching movies rather than playing games (see PSP game sales numbers vs DS game sales numbers).

Either way Sony is facing stiff competition on all fronts and home consoles isnt different either.

As much as that could be possible, I doubt it. Sony isn't even trying to hide their fear of Nintendo and Microsoft and that is clear simply because all they do is trash talk the competitors. You only trash talk if you are afraid, or jealous.

Sony trashtalks no matter what, I don't think you can measure their fear by that.

Well I think Microsoft will get a head start in this generation of console wars. Sony's best tactic would be to DELAY the launch of the PS3 until late 2007, and then ship it in time for the holiday season. This would make the PS3 look like an even newer console than the 360 to the average consumer, and give people sufficient time to get bored of it.

The worst thing Sony could do is release the PS3 a few months after the XBox, when everybody will want to spend their money on XBox games, rather than *another* new console.

586684855

yeah! Or maybe they should just continuously push the release date back so that it will be so far ahead of microsoft and it would look like "an even newer console" when it comes out... like maybe 2010 or 2012.... then they would really have the Xbox 360 beat! Crap! What an idea!

true even the Xbox360 "Global" launch is not really Global. November 19th or something like that for NA... December 02 for EU .... god knows when for Jap and china.....

586686628

It's pretty darn Global. NA on the 22nd, Europe on the 2nd, and then Japan on the 10th.

That's the 3 major markets within 2 weeks. That's unheard of in this industry.
