yeah everything is looking good, i noticed the speed update right after i rebooted the thing. And the ****y thing about it passing the acid test now is that i was working on a web site last night and css word spacing wasn't working yesterday, so i had to make a lenghty work around. now css word spacing works fine... i should have waited a day...

I wonder what they did to increase the overall speed so much, especially the windows effects.

Steve finally got off his G5 and on to a Powerbook, then after noticing the animation performance, he screamed to the top of his lungs in his office "FASTER!", the engineers ran to their desks in terror, immediately optimizing the code.

I definately noticed the video speedup. My Mini doesn't exactly perform the best with effects on my 2405fpw, but it seems that many things like the genie effect and many other misc. things are way smoother :D. I really like the Spotlight repsonsiveness now! Totally makes it much more enjoyable.

Finally!

Edit:

This is hilarious, Mail's and iChat's main windows still launch on login even when they're set to hide in System Preferences.

setting them to hide will just make them launch then hide all their windows, if you don't want to launch at login you have to remove it from the list

The problem is that the windows don't hide, even though you set them too. The app launches and the windows just stay there. I actually haven't tested this, but have heard a lot about it.

Yep, I've had the same problem with Mail and iChat launching at login even tho I have them set to hide. I've had this problem since 10.4.3.

Read what jagedEdge said.

Seriously how hard can it be to fix that bug? I never ever had any problems with that feature using Mac OS X 10.3.0 till 10.3.9.

I think my Mac also takes longer to boot, but hey my installation is acting a bit screwy anyway so I'll do a clean install this weekend. :x

I am on hold with Apple Care regarding the initialization of encryption within the Mail.app. Doesn't seem as if they're aware of a problem with users not being able to get the new promised feature. :) Some members on their official forums are experiencing a similar problem.

They're able to partake in encrypted chat, but don't have to option to send encrypted mail through the Mail.app.
