Leo Natan
King Mustard, just put the shados on low. The game still looks amazing without the dynamic shadows.

PGHammer
I guess its just the newer ATI cards. I have a 9700AIW card and my grafix look alot better then that. I see no such shadows on it. The only thing different in my case tho, im using the Omega drivers and not the stock ATI drivers. 586835307[/snapback] In my case, I have my trusty AIW 9700 Pro (old tech) P4 2.6 HT, 1024x768, all other settings are at their ceilings. I pushed it to 1280x960 and ran into chop; however, that was due to both the old GPU and a nearly full HD (Maxtor Original DiamondMax SATA in the 200 GB flavor) combined with a seven year old 17" CRT. Stock drivers, clockings, and cooling (entire system is stock-cooled).One thing I'd like to be able to do is switch to an in-car view (like Underground 1 and 2 and HP 1 and 2); it's actually a lot *easier* for me personally. I'm using the keyboard (MS Internet Keyboard). At this point, I am trying to avoid gutting the system completely, so next upgrades *except* graphics will be aimed toward portability (next graphics upgrade is likely an AIW X800XT, with sound going back to 5.1 with Klipsch Ultras and either my current A2 ZS or X-Fi Fatality FPS (X-RAM and the bay-mounted breakout box), as my Inspire 5300 wired remote finally croaked after three years of hard use and abuse

brucebeh
using omega drivers.. stil ugly shawdows :( this sucks, because my friend's nvidia card is looking better just because the shadows look better :( Shawdows make it more realistic!! Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 10, 2005 Veteran Share Posted December 10, 2005 Hi, I have the same problem on a x600 but I have seen the game on a x700 and the shadows look good. Dont know why. I have an X700Pro and the shadows still look bad, and when it's enabled the game becomes so choppy. I can semi-max all the other settings except the shadows. By the way, I'm using Catalyst 5.12 and the shadow problem is still there.
Sticktron
Just turn shadows OFF in the settings. You'll still have all the shadows (cars, trees, etc.) but they will look proper instead of blocky.
Wildkat
The shadows looked messed up with my 9800pro but I recently upgraded to a 6800gt and they look better, but the framerate is still pants!
IK47
Im using an x850xtpe, and can't get the game to run right. It is extremely sluggish with low fps. I have no clue what is going on. If anyone has a fix, please pm me.
Leo Natan
It's just annoying, you guys concentrate on the shadows instead of that great game. Yes, shadows are fps-killers and look ugly, but the game looks and plays just as well with the shadows turned off. You still have shadows, just not too dynamic.. Go play that excellent game!
