Dick Montage
Guys, I want to apologise for my comments, or rather I want to say srry if they offend. I just disliked the guy because of his wasting away not one, but two good livers. Without a drink, yes, he was a legend. An I know that when drunk, people are not themselves. I also see how a lot of this happened. His parents were drunks. He earned a LOT of money very soon, and was not "managed" or "groomed" like the Beckhams of today. Again, my opinion of him has not changed. But I never said he deserved it, I do feel sympanty for the family, and I'd not have wished this on anyone. In a perfect world he would be the amazing player he was, the charismatic man he was, and hey, after losing one liver, he would have been able to stop drinking. But this ain't a perfect world and he left behind his family. Yeah, 20 years ago, it would have been a loss... Bhav
pfft...however harsh this sounds, i'm glad the guy has died. he drank so much, someone gave him a liver, but the idiot carried on drinking. as far as i'm concerned he's wasted so much of the NHS's time and money, that could've been better spent on people that actually need it - not on a guy that doesnt give a **** about anyone except himself. let him rot. leesmithg
21 years ago I used to play Snooker with him in Peckham at Peckham Rye Lane Snooker club, he was a great player far too good for me I was only 16 and just learning the game. He was a shy quiet type, problem was though people could not help themselves but keep saying, 'alright George have a drink', he just could not say no. The birds he used to bring in, gawd I used to admire him for those sexy blondes in long leopard skin coats with sexy drop dead good looks. Besty was a far superior footballer than what we have today. Ball heavier, sodden damp cut up pitches, they didn't do special diets, kicked around a lot, even Pele said Best was the best that ever graced a football field. I celebrate his life for his Football skills, the media luv to sling mud, so his so-called private life was never private. The media killed him in the end, the Pigs they are! joeydoo
no matter who dies - its not a good thing to say  586852718[/snapback] What about Hitler, Charles Manson, Bin Laden, Saruman? Do you think these people should be spooken of in a nice manner? No? Well there you go, there is a scale. It's not just a case of Evil or Good. Clearly George Best wasn't evil, he wasn't entirely good either so light and dark don't apply in real life. People aren't perfect, no one is good or bad pigeon holing people is pointless. Life isn't like that. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/401895-george-best-has-died/page/3/#findComment-586852771 Share on other sites
leesmithg
George best was an alcoholic and slapped his wife once or twice. Don't compare him to Bin Laden, Saddam Hussain or Adolph Hitler dam it. I new him as a regular guy that played at my Snooker club, he was quiet and actually never was drunk when there. Something comes to mind, 'if you don't have something nice to say then stfu'. That always works. ZiGGA
He was a good player I respect him on the pitch but off the bitch I can hardly say I do, getting wrotten drunk and slapping his wife about. No I don't respect that side of him. May he rest in peace and all of that but I never knew him so I don't have much time for George Best. Anyway 59 years of age is a good age to die at considering his circumstances. He was thinking too much for himself without thinking about his family and friends, only when he did it was too late and that's not right in my opinion. If I had to choice and it involved life or death I'd need alot of will power to not go there again. He even stopped and went back to the alchohol. So unfortunately that is the consequence you take. Good night Besty. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/401895-george-best-has-died/page/3/#findComment-586853007 Share on other sites

Powa
Marba T, I think we all first have drinks to just enjoy ourself. But, the pressure he was put under at such a young age must have been tremendous. So, the more he went out and drank, he was slowing becoming more addicted to it, and he probably didn't even realise it before it was too late. Just like many alcholics. And once you are there, it is mighty difficult to get rid of it. forster
Didnt he get a liver transplant or something? Wish that liver would have gone to someone who actually looked after their body, could have saved a young life that had a good chance at living, rather than being given to an old man who drank it away. Oh well, nevermind. Rest in peace, I hope eventually his is remembered for the good things he did, rather than the shell of a man he was the past 10 years. I respect him for his football playing but not as a person.
