Correction: the shareware version does support per-pixel alpha blending on titlebar/frames for the per-pixel skins that are included with it.

The enhanced version is required to support per-pixel frames for downloaded skins. But it also includes support for scrollbar skinning, progress bar skinning (incuding new WB5 effects), progress animation skinning, per-pixel alpha menu skinning, colorizing, and more.

As written, the original bit was 100% mistaken as to "doesnt support". As the latter portion was right, KoL's VistaXP isn't in there. Nor is Arrow. :)

if you pay the 19.95 for wb5 do you get future updates, in otherwords is it a subscription for a year or is it forever?

It is all upgrades in that major version number, so you'd get 5.1 and 5.3 and so on, but not 6.0 (upgrades have historically been $10). WindowBlinds 4.0 was released 8 April 2003, so I think people who bought it then have had a pretty good deal . . .

Totally different software.

Although they might be based on some of the same principles (but I don't think so), the coding is entirely seperate.

It *shouldn't* slow anything down. Maybe not "faster", but maybe. It really depends on your setup, and how things are running now.
