What's up with that UserImages.bmp crap?

Nero has a registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning ROM\Settings\WorkingDir

to get it out of my way create a temp dir in the nero installation folder and change the registry entry for the entry above to:

C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Temp

or wherever you want the file to be created instead.

Nice directive.

I saw this file created for the second time today, and found this resolution. This makes me think that another issue I'm having might also be related to Nero...maybe someone could relate?

Here goes:

For about a month now, this temp folder I created on my Desktop, (to store some music files for a few compilation CDs) then subsequently deleted, keeps reappearing after a day or two.

I didn't want to post earlier, because I figured it was spyware or a virus, and was determined to resolve this myself. Until today, when I foudn the Userimages.bmp file. The first time, I thought I had mistakenly dragged it into there, but now I knew that was not the case, but I finally had a delete-reappear situation where I had viable search criteria.

Then I found this thread (here on Neowin), and created a "temp" directory within Nero's folders, and pointed Nero's HKCU key to that folder.

But, could Nero also be creating this folder on my Desktop? It did have music files, and I did write them from this folder. I delete it, shift-delete it, empty the Recycle Bin, and check HJT for unusual processes. I've also ran SpySweeper, MS AntiSpyware. AdAware, SpyBot, and NOD32, and the issue still persists.

My Inspiron 9300 is very clean, so I no longer suspect it is malware-related, but I've been wrong in the past.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The b version fixes all bugs. :)

PS: All this complaining about the only good Burning ROM on the market. I have tried Roxio 8.0 and trust me it is a lot worst. :(

i disagree, i have been a longtime nero user, but recently switched last week to AShampoo burning studio. No bloat, under 10mb and does a much better job. Its interface is much better and it is alot easier to do, with all the important features a burning client should have. I would suggest a switch for anyone.

i have a problem when burning mp3 in the option audioCD. these mp3 are from eMusic, and i used to burn the cd?s with Nero 6 (no problem). :DD

so when the i saw the Nero7 change without thinking (reading reviews) and i found this nero scout, which i could handle but what freaks me out is the "jumpings" (i dont know the correct word in english) in music.

i quit the "ultra fast" plug ins, i try with every drive speed but the problem remains.

havent give a try to burn dvds, anyone had this problem?:

before i quit nero7 ill try to fix this---

If you mean burning Audio CD's from MP3's which causes "skipping" or "clicking" then this is how to fix it:

1. Download this file: http://rapidshare.de/files/7528898/mp3PRO.dll.html

2. Go to folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins

3. Zip the mp3PRO.dll that is in there or just delete.

4. copy and paste the downloaded mp3PRO.dll to the folder.

5. Done.

This will completely fix the problem.

After doing this 6 weeks ago, Nero decided to change that key's value back to the Desktop. Nice!
