ehlo
I got some new surround sound speakers. They are Logitech X-530 (5.1). The package comes with: 1 middle speaker 2 rear speakers 2 front speakers 1 sub woofer Ok so I have a motherboard has all the sockets required for surround sound. The plugs are: Microphone Line In Front Rear Side Bass So I plug it in using the colour coded plugs into the correct holes. The holes being used by the speaker system are coloured red. In Windows (XP x64) I then go into sound properties and change the speakers to 5.1 surround sound. However when I play music the rear and centre speakers are not working. I move the plug that is in the side to the rear. The makes the rear speakers work. However the centre speaker still does not work. Does anyone know how to resolve this? kenetik
I had the same problem when using my Z5500 on my 5.1 surround mobo. What brand is your mobo? You need to look at the mobo website, download the latest drives, and most likely theyll have some surrround driver you gotta run, Ive got a MSI and I have to use Xear3D. ehlo
They should be all on and I don't think there are any port specific settings anyway, but I'm not sure so I'll check next time I boot up ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/410279-problem-with-logitech-x-530-surround-sound/#findComment-586953235 Share on other sites
Liquid
The problem: Music files are STEREO. Its not going to output to all speakers. With the SB Audigy 2 you can turn on something called CMSS which forces sound to come out of all speakers. What you can do is use Winamp, then go into options, turn on hardware acceleration and restart winamp. That should give you better support. kennyout
son....you have the Rears pluged into side.... plug them into REAR as the center/sub share the same hole it should be: Microphone (leave empty) Line In, empty Line Out= front speakers Rear = Rear speakers Side= side speakers (7.1) Bass= center/sub (might have to switch output mode in properties to do switch sub/center also check your mobo manual as it may say different for the Bass and Line In Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/410279-problem-with-logitech-x-530-surround-sound/#findComment-586953855 Share on other sites
dragon2611
unless your running an app that is outputting 5.1 you wont get any output on the center speaker with some soundcards its possible to clone the front speakers to the rear for things like mp3 but you still wont be getting any sound out of the center speaker, simply becuase theres nothing to send to the center speaker. best way to test it IMO is to pop in a movie dvd and make sure your playback software supports 5.1 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/410279-problem-with-logitech-x-530-surround-sound/#findComment-586953865 Share on other sites
kennyout
Nvidia's Audio driver wants to clone don't let it...make sure you have removed Nvidia's Sound app.... instead find the Sound card manufacture's site, update the driver to theirs, (usually Nforce 2-4 boards use Realtek audio drivers....but some do not) in fact the Realtek sound drivers for AC'97 codecs come with their own sound app, that actually is easy to tell which plugs go where.... TokyoKiller
You've gotta make Windows configured to 5.1 surround sound and then go to ur Windows Media Player and set ur audio devices as ur sound card (usually it isnt), so u gotta set it to get it to work...same thing with Winamp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/410279-problem-with-logitech-x-530-surround-sound/#findComment-586953950 Share on other sites

Originally the rear speakers where plugged in to the rear. However nothing came out. Moving the plug to the side made the rear speakers work. I'll check some of your suggestions and then get back to you :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/410279-problem-with-logitech-x-530-surround-sound/#findComment-586955791 Share on other sites

I removed the nvidia driver (from the nForce4 AMD x64 chipset) and installed the offical driver. All speakers are working for standard songs now.
